Okay, I'm aware of the fact that there is a way to edit what loads when your computer starts in Windows 98.
Last time my computer got fucked up a guy on the phone helped me do it. All I remember is he went throuhg Start - Run and then, obviously, had a file name for the place to edit this.
If anyone knows how I could find that again it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

I guess you mean the msconfig.exe program.

    (C:/windows/system/msconfig.exe [default install])

    This gives you access to:

    config.sys
    autoexec.bat
    system.ini
    win.ini

    and the Startup.

There is also the ability to use Regedit to access the very Registeration keys, but you should only do that if you have a clue as to what you are doing (or are daring enough, just make an Exported .reg copy before you play with it.)

Personally I prefer a small program that you can find at www.mlin.net called Startup CPL, it will place a control in your control panel for your Startup's (How ever they start). To which you can tick/untick so they do or don't start on the next boot up. (This allows you to trial and error your way to finding out which drivers to load at boot.)
