Atari, the company that pioneered the sacred video games

I think I'll go stare at my 2600 and cry now.

    :m: Peace.

Well you never know there might be a rebirth of ATARI in some forms. For instance I'm sure some of ATARI is living on in MOBILE PHONES around the world (As small games).

On another note COMMODORE did the very same thing years ago after their failure to produce turnover on their CD32 range. (The first 32Bit/CD Console).

The problem with their range was they had put a lot into the production but their research lacked noting that the lid to the CDROM should have a locking mechanism when it is on.

This resulted in I guess alot of problems legally.

COMMODORE went bankrupt, but eventually what was left of COMMODORE got bought up and has now been re-engineered as a company and even entered the PC range.

[above not necessarily a reliable source, but I was P**sed when I couldn't buy anymore CD32 games]

Wow, Battle Engine: Aquila for Xbox must have been one of their last games, very fitting too considering it's a great game. While I'm too young to have grown up with Pong, Atari's made some other games that I spent countless hours on. Sad to see them go.

Oh well, they're out to make money just like everyone else. Stuff happens. I don't think they go to bed crying, just thinking of the lives they've ruined by making such good games.

Ahh, but they were good games.

Although not truly of the Atari era, even I played Atari games. Astroids was one of my favorites, Centipede too.

Missed it. That game you got in your post, don't remember playing it. Did you know that Texas Instraments(the calculator company) used to make computers? My dad worked for them for a while.

How could you not know Pong!? *is shocked* The Death of Atari is very disappointing, I was anticipating a revival in old school style games. People are getting tired of all the cgi and bad story lines with games that are only fun the first time around. Those incredibly simple yet highly addictive games give me a reason not to finish my term paper.
