Id I'd rather let this topic die, but I guess I'll help out in understanding the nobel prize. Nobel was this great scientist, and he invented dynomite. Then thousands of people were killed in war by his invention and he felt so guilt-ridden that he started the nobel piece fund.
I'd like to know where dynamite was used in war. Second, The peace prize is not the only one. Every field of science has a prize. I think they are given out yearly.
First, not every field of science has an associated 'Nobel Prize'. Second: Nobel invented dynamite - a mix of nitro-glycerine and kieselguhr (a type of clay) that was more stable than pure nitro. It is ironic that there is a Nobel peace prize, for his explosive has certainly been used in armed conflicts. Cheers, Ron.
as with humans.. have you noticed, the nobel peace prize has also evolved into something far more spectacular than what it orignally was meant for.:bugeye:
Dynamite is not stable enough to be fired out of a conventional gun, and the pneumatic systems were impractical. Some were made but never used in war. About the same time picric acid started being used as a filler, until TNT was invented. Since you couldn't fire dynamite out of a gun, its use was limited to things like mines and demolition. I will rephrase that: I'd like to know when dynamite had an extensive role in an armed conflict.
