    Is it possible to open .tar.gz archives under the Windows,and what program do i need for that? I have linux, but it is a long story......

    I thought WINZIP 8.1 COULD OPEN THAT?OR MAY BE POWERZIP,GZIP COULD BE USEFUL...

    Winrar will open both tars and gzips.

    winzip can do it , i do it all the time with winzip.

    or you can do a search for cygwin1.dll and then look for tar.exe (search from google) and the u can use the normal tar -zxvf filename.tar.gz

    Why not ? i have source code which i did in unix and zipped it up using tar -zcvf file.tar.gz file.c and i want to view the source code in windows or see if it compiles in windows ?!?
