I have a website.. it's just a little personal homepage with a web log I like to update for fun every once in a while. It's somewhat funny. But I'd really like to expand on it. I've tried running a few different web server programs on my comp, but they don't work because of the firewall I have. I've been looking into getting someone to host my page, but that has gotten me nowhere. I'm going to keep trying, but I figure that I'd ask if anyone is experienced in this area and could offer some advice.I'd like to go with running it off my computer if possible, but any tips on finding a host would be great!

The only port that I know an httpd uses for sure is TCP 80. That should be the only one you would have to open on the firewall. I run IIS 5.0 on my win2k machine and use Norton Internet Security (software firewall) and all I require to allow people access to the httpd is the port 80 open. If you don't want to open that port I am not sure if it's possible to get around it so you can still host on your box.

Also you might want to check with your ISP package. I know with most of the internet packages where I live we get around 10 mb of web hosting space on a server box, which is plenty.
