    Does anyone knows what laptop I should buy? I need something fast with a lot of memory for number crunching purpose. Thanks.

    Laptops are always a cost concern, afterall you should probably mention you want one thats cheap.

    I've got an old Gateway solo, that despite being a P2 is still worth a fair bit in cash. Most of the new Laptops have hideous prices.

    Just a note for if/when you get one:

    Laptop batteries can become useless if you continually use mains
    power, this means you might have to replace the batterie, so make sure you pick a laptop that has available replacement parts.

    If the laptop has little pullout legs to lift it off a desk, use them as this helps to cool the laptop since they can get very hot around the batterie area.

    Never allow the adapter powerbox to sit on something like a quilt or carpet as they too can burn out.

    Thanks. I expected to pay twice as much for a labtop as regular PC. I can tolerate couple grand and prefer to get something with P4 2.0G mobile processor. I have zero knowledge in labtop. I don't know which ones are good.
