I love political cartoons! They're the first thing I read when I get Newsweek or the Sunday paper. I'm worrying more and more about Bush.

Farging balzac, Kunax! That's hilarious ....
The beam in his eye (Seattle Times; letter to the editor) (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opinion/135207743_wedlets09.html) All those who are surprised that this Bush would even try to blame President Clinton for our economic woes, raise their left eyebrow! Even if it were not two years later and beginning election time, this antic gets a whopping horselaugh.
What a preposterous insult that all of President Clinton's accomplishments in safeguarding Social Security, promoting child care, health care, holding corporate accountability, preserving the environment, withholding tax ripoffs for rich cronies, and above all his building and stabilizing international peace accords, are now all held responsible for state budgets being over the barrel, that retirement reserves are depleted, that there are monumental security costs, and that massive job layoffs continue.
This executive knows damn well that this is another lie, and he has the unmitigated gall to try to say it with a straight face! Can you spell "surplus"?

There is the Jessica movie coming out detailing the army version of her "escape/rescue". There is also a 911 movie with Bush making a heroic speech instead of high tailing it to a Nebraska bunker...
so here is my movie suggestion to counter the other current revisions.

Come and listen to a story bout a man named Jeb
He helped ta throw elections so his bro could get ahead
Grandpa made a fortune off the Nazis and was sued
but now they make their money offa bubbilin crude.
(Oil that is...Iraqi tea...black gold.)
The first thaing ya know Jeb's dads a millionaire
He bought his kids some schoolin but the kids just didn't care
The oldest brother Neil ripped off Silverado Bank
The middle brother George drank so much that he stank.
(booze that is...hooch, with a cocaine chaser.)
Ol dad became the president of the United States.
The CIA made sure he was the perfect candidate.
He had others do his lyin and we had a couple wars.
But he lost the next election and he really was sore.
(Pissed that is...)
Jeb was given Florida, a graduation gift.
He was groomed ta be the Prez but there's an unexpected shift.
Somehow George did better on the dusty campaign trail.
George could not speak clearly so they thought he would fail.
(Like in Congress, the oil biz and National Guard.)
To win a tough election they all knew just what to do.
They changed a lot of ballots of good folks like me and you.
No longer a contender poor Jeb took one for the team.
Like all the rest of us he really got reamed.
(F'd that is...screwed, trapped in the family business of blood money and oil. )
Y'all come back now...

Cracks and shards, DeeCee, that "Blow" cartoon is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Of course, that's the thing: you can do that kind of stuff in England. There was a stir once when ... I think it was actually David Horsey ... ran a cartoon of a "Congress" dog humping somebody's leg. That's essentially over the line in the US, apparently. (On the other hand, Horsey has two Pulitzers so I think he gets to set a standard or two.) But ... that Blow cartoon is criminally funny. Thank you for sharing. Truly.
Yup tiassa Steve Bell (http://www.guardian.co.uk/cartoons/archive/stevebell/0,7371,337764,00.html) Is an evil cartoonist with a keen political eye and a plain hatred for old Dubya.

What I have learned from this thread is that people will only see thing is there own limited political perspective: Republicans will only see liberals as pansies and communist, Liberals will only see republicans as greedy and stupid, Arabs will only see all problems being cause by Jews, ect. The truth is that nothing is definitive and that nothing is clear, the only thing that can be trusted is that in general people only care about them self and politicians also represent the gross majority of the human psyche and only give a dam about them self’s, only difference is they have power. No matter which way you slice it the world is always ruled by greed, some one will always be getting the shaft and someone will always be profiting. Its is simply human nature, and a world where our political problems are solve and everything is a utopia is a world were humans don’t exist (at least not in un-engineered natural form)! This in principle is my answer to all political problems: Kill off all the humans, no more problems! My political cartoon would have to be the wise words of Red Robot:

By the way if I had to choose: "This Modern World" presented by spookz is the best political cartoon here, those that criticize it long texts obviously lack the mental capacity to read it, hence that’s all they can say about it.

Seeing BD without a helmet is almost as moving than seeing him without a leg...
Comic strip authors take these characters seriously, and carefully tend the little 'quirks' that define each character. BD's been a big figure in Doonesbury for decade, and to have him lose his leg - that is, to have the war in Iraq permanently mark a long-running character - is huge.

Herblock Award To Tony Auth
Philadelphia Inquirer cartoonist wins foundation award
http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ta/2005/ta050306.gif (http://www.ucomics.com/tonyauth/2005/03/06/)
Another brick? Tony Auth, Philadelphia Inquirer, March 6, 2005.
• • •
Congratulations to Tony Auth, of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Tony Auth of the Philadelphia Inquirer is the winner of the 2005 Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning, the Herb Block Foundation announced today.
The Herblock Prize is awarded for distinguished examples of original editorial cartooning that exemplify the courageous, independent standard set by the late Washington Post cartoonist, Herb Block. The winner receives a $10,000 award.
The Herblock Prize was created by the Herb Block Foundation to encourage editorial cartooning as an essential journalistic tool in preserving the rights of the American people.
"Tony Auth draws like an angel and persuades like the devil, seducing us to his point of view with intelligence, insight and consummate artistry," said Harry Katz ... one of the three judges for this year's prize."
WashingtonPost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A11839-2005Mar6.html)
• • •
I admit Auth isn't usually on my first circuit of cartoonists. I'm more likely to see his work coincidentally during a rare visit to USAToday.com, or posted on a board by someone else. This appears to be my loss.
I do recognize the style, and could probably have named an Auth next to a Toles, Wasserman, or a host of others.
Congratulations of course to Auth and the Inquirer; it is my shame that it takes this sort of award to make my pay attention.
• • •
An archive of the last three years of Herb Block's 55-year career at the Washington Post is maintained online. See The Herblock Archive (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/herblock/archives.htm). One can only wonder what he would have offered had he made it another two weeks or so to that Terrible Day.
