View Full Version : Russian Scientists Try to Find Life on Mars
Igor Mitrofanov, the chairman of the laboratory of the space research institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated that about 50% of Mars’s soil on high latitudes consisted of water ice. “This fact is another thing to prove that there used to be life on that planet. Maybe, the research will not result in the discovery of life on the red planet. At least, we will probably find the proofs of its existence in the past,” said the scientist. Igor Mitrofanov also pointed out that the ice on Mars is another proof of the hypothesis, which says that Mars used to be a warm, humid and hospitable planet for living beings.

Assuming that we could make the discovery that life did exist on Mars is it within reason that - since the Red Planet is now ice cold - the life that was (?) there was extinguished over some period of time by the frigid conditions? I wonder if we could apply some math and determine the real rate of our Sun's cooling.

That's another "Big Bang" debate ... did it happen or didn't it? Is the sun cooking or is it going to engulf our little pocket of the universe? Pick your poison ... I tend to think that everything that lives is born of the expanding cosmos and everything eventually dies ... Regardless, if we have evidence one way or the other we could do some math ...
** Well it's about time some country took intrest in the cosmo's;)
