Every once in a while a square, gray popup advertising, only in text some stupid thing pops-up on my screen. I can eliminate this by simply disabiling "active scripting" on my Internet Options, but if I do that, it doesn't allow me to go to some websites and access my Yahoo! mail account.

Something, I'm assuming, got on my computer and is causing these pop-ups. Once I got rid of them, the way is still unknown to me, but now they're back.

I tried deleting Yahoo! Messenger and other strange programs that wound up on my computer. Nothing. I system restored my comp both weeks and then months before the problem, still nothing.

Please help, I don't want to have the inbility to script in fear of recieving a pop-up that advertises either a credit card, Viagra, or a porn site.

BTW: Has this happened to anyone else?

    HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, CURLY.

    Control Panel>Preformance and Maintenance>Administrative Tools>Services>Messenger

Double click on Messenger, under General Tab midway down, select disabled in startup type. Then Apply and Ok.
