WHAT legal hope would male bowlers have of banning women from playing in one of their tournaments?

Bowling pin-up boy Mick Molloy would have a better chance of picking up a best-actor Oscar for Crackerjack.

Yet, it makes perfect sense for women and men to have their own separate sporting competitions if they wish to.

When Mildura's female bowlers wanted to keep men out of their annual pairs tournament, they had to fight for an exemption from equal opportunity laws.

It only goes to show how common sense flies out the window when such heavy-handed laws interfere with people's lives.

First there was a woman who demanded the right to play in the male league of lawn bowls here. So it happened, she was allowed. Yay. Go equal opportunity. However, then the men started beating the women in the female league, and now all the women are complaining about it. In fact, the female league here wants to be exempt from all equal opportunity laws so men won't be able to dominate their league. However, many still want the ability to play in the make league.

This, I find, is rather typical of laws introduced for special interest groups, as opposed to laws intended to apply to everyone. It reminds me of the Fernwood gymnasium franchise here, which accepts only female members. Disgusting.
