hmmm well, I would put sexism here: 6. use of intrigue or strategy in obtaining any position of power or control, as in business, university, etc. sexism is a strategy, i think. also, sexism IS intellectual in many cases... very intellectual. how many men are called "hysterical" that's a different issue, but just what got me started.....
well I don't know what they gained. I know I lost confidence and conviction, also a bit of fun I would have had by being able to be loud. Also, all those quiet girls could have been having more fun, I'm sure. Of course, it's just my opinion, but that's all we have here anyway........ So I'm currently trying to feel de-sexismfied enough to go out with confidence, etc.... I'm thinking it will take a few days. I don't know what this board will do for me; it's just an experiment, anyway.
wait okay, avatar, don't know if you were asking only about this thread or the other one I started, which brought me to the concern about the placement of sexism on this board. the other thread... Sexism Sux, is now on "Human Science" There I complained about being at a party, and feeling that women were inappropriately quiet and I felt too loud.
The subject of your original post, susan, dealt with human interaction. Specifically, your reaction during a New Years Eve party and how you realised that you were the only one in the group of ladies that was acting different and how you felt singled out for it. As presented it did not fit your #6. If it did then you left out a good bit that might have made this clear to the readers of your post.
yes yes, and perhaps you might say that confidence is only a psychological issue....? well, I think it goes into all kinds of political places.... what the fuck? I can't believe I'm debating that sexism issues need a place on the Politics board! This fact should be obvious to anyone with any morsel of a brain!
Weak. If you have anything worth saying, you will usually be opposed. And by people who will have more serious arguments than "you're being loud". If you lose confidence that easily, you will never go anywhere. You'll just be another well-trained slave (as I believe Vortexx mentioned in wildly different context). And that's no way to live.
But susan, your original post really had nothing to do with politics or sexism. You just said "I got yelled at and the boys didn't - sexism!" Well, okay. Great. Were you drinking? It's definetly, definetly my experience that people who have had even a little bit to drink are much louder than they think they are. I dobut many will disagree.
there is no difference there is no difference to me - sexism at a party is the same as it is in the workplace, in the home, in the courts.... all political everywhere....!
*Groans* It's topics like this that make me ashamed of being a feminist. Whinge, whinge, whinge. Perhaps you simply have stupid friends. The cure for that is to dump them and get intelligent friends. Jobs are a bit more difficult than acquaintances.
yeah yeah okay, i should not have to defend my experience here, but i talked to somebody else at the party and he said that i was not being more drunk/loud than any other louden. but we did notice that the girls were quiet, boys loud, except me.so thus the bitching and me feeling like shit. what do you people want???? sexism is a big deal and it comes in all forms. jesus christ! where are the bitch-queens tonight?
and furthermore why does everyone on the internet adopt a "I am wiser than you" attitude? I LIKE TO WHINE. and help other whiners. better here on the internet than out in public. if you don't want to see the growth of my meager whines into full fledged political rants than just don't post back to me!
Susan: You posted it, didn't you? Why try to debate if you don't want to debate? An Alfa Romeao Spider Veloce and 100k. Honey, I'm the bitch Goddess and I'm right here. To do so would deny that sexism is a social issue. But then that depends once again on how it is presented. The presentation has everything to do with how it is catagorized. To say that it is illegal to practice sexism within the workplace, could well be a legal issue or a political one being as laws have been written against such. If you deal with how muslims deal with sexism then it is a religious issue. If you look at the effects of sexism on the individual within a social setting then it is a social issue. It is all in the presentation and how you arrange your issue and point. I think this is what you are missing. In your mind it is a distinct political issue. How you have laid it out is not. Say what you thought the way you thought it. It makes a difference.
on the feminist note there are many feminists which don't know what they want for example one girl in te class she took up karate Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! bitches all arround, says that all men are pigs, she wants to be treated equally, etc, etc then one day I took her by the throat and throwed on the desks in the classroom she doesn't talk to me anymore , just calls a sadist, etc, etc. She didn't even fight back but I treated her equally! as I would have done with any guy that bitched in my face like she did also those women who don't like that someone opens a door for them or lights their cigarette... and when someone doesn't then they immediatelly note that and says that you're impolite. I hate these types- they just don't know what they want
okay Say what you thought the way you thought it. It makes a difference. okay good point. I am lazy in explaining things. I just prefer not to.
