hello The other day I was reading throught one of my moms old psychology books and it was talking about genius being akin to insanity and saying thats not true, while ill agree all geniuses are not insane but there is a tendency in some of the truly great minds althought that is my opinion. I was thinking maybe there something that allows them to see or experience things in a different way that gives them insight. what are yalls thoughts. bye
everyone has a flaw. in genius' minds, everything goes faster, stronger, better, and so does the flaw. it stands out more. i think. anyone else?
I thought that geniuses, though well-endowed in one area, are generally stupid in the rest. Like Einstein, who was brilliant (or so some say), but he didn't wear socks (??) or something like that...Plus how one part of his brain was bigger than normal..might stop something else from growing? Also, I find that if some of my friends are particularly good at something (Math), they tend to suck big time at something else (Art, Sports). Not that they're physically incapable or artistically handicapped, but they it's like they give up their coordination and reflex skills for Mathematics.
Nowadays, the old notion of “insanity” has been fragmented into numerous conditions with names. So what’s your definition? Anyway, this reminds me of when people put brilliant writers and alcoholism together, etc. Though I do think that if you’re a genius (whatever exactly that is), you probably have more absorbing things on your mind than remembering to adhere to behavioural norms, and comb your hair.
If you can imagine the human brain as just a standard CPU (A processor for one of these computers *points at 'puter*) You have an understanding while someone can be extremely intelligent but might be absent minded, or slightly oscure. Let's say an average human being with their processor uses 35% for thought, and the rest a mixture of eating, sleeping, interacting with people, tidyness, standing upright, breathing, linguistics, grammer etc. In computer terms these processes would be running under priorities, where the more important priorities have access to more area. A genius will undoubtably be using more of his brain for thoughts and theory, which means it gains the higher priority and since the brain is finite in dimension, all the other area's lessen in priority. So a person might be extremely smart, but suffer from not cleaning or socialising (Like Socrates), or they could forget socks by all means.

A mental illness that does'nt hinder the abillty to function in society "normaly". I dont know if it helps I really havent given it much thought.
Moderatly autistic here. 143 IQ as well. The average is like 110 or something. Oxygen depletion in the womb screwed be up royally. Mental defects are a blessing to me.

He didn't speak until age four. He had a lot of other idiosyncrasies too, so maybe he didn't wear socks. His brain structure was consistent with the brain structure of an autistic person.
