How do you know these are "orbs"?

What are we supposed to see in the pictures? What orbs?

It's a pretty well know phenomenon:

Orb artifact are captured during low-light instances where the camera's flash is used, such as at night or underwater – or where a bright light source is near the camera.

The artifacts are especially common with compact or ultra-compact cameras, where the short distance between the lens and the built-in flash decreases the angle of light reflection to the lens, directly illuminating the aspect of the particles facing the lens and increasing the camera's ability to capture the light reflected off normally sub-visible particles.[1]

The orb artifact can result from retroreflection of light off solid particles (e.g., dust, pollen), liquid particles (water droplets, especially rain) or other foreign material within the camera lens.[1]

I felt a pull to look at your pictures. That will teach me to trust that feeling - what a waste of time.

Wouldn't be easier to just remotely view the orbs instead of going there.

Do you really believe all of this silly crap you are discussing?

Good grief!
Proof positive that the Dread Cthulhu is returned to devour us.

Orbs are interesting anyway. I have sent a request to Mythbusters to take a photo with 100 cameras, see if they are in the same place. Mind you, I suppose they could be too close to the camera.

A more telling experiment would be to take photos with a compact camera that has the flash close to the lens vs. taking pictures of the same area with a rig like this:

..to see if orbs can be seen on both.

I was trying to eliminate their scale. Orbs look big, dust is small, but 3D determines scale. If you can get the same dust on all images you can get its scale. If the orbs are on all images in exactly the same 3D positions , then they are big. If the cameras have to be very close together then this is a tiny particle.

All we are is orbs in the wind:rolleyes:

It's called lens flare! It's so common there is even a photoshop filter to recreate it.

It's not lens flare.

Oh sorry, it's obviously the spirits of dead people floating around.

Then what is it?

Dust probably. But I still find it interesting to check out.

Oh you missed an opportunity there.
I was expecting you claim it was aether bubbles and that you'd predicted this 1,000,000 years ago and now science has proven you correct.

Never mind, I'm sure you'll find a way to work it into your "theory" somehow.

I took this one two just before.

I thought it could be anything from dust particles to gas released from the pond. Its a old fishing hole.

But I wanted to be sure and get an opinion.

The reason I get so many photos of orbs is because I think of my hobby as a photographer.

I have some I will try and find with orbs during the day.

Here is a pretty one , but no orbs just a firy golden sky.

i have a problem taking pictures at night with this camera. Even with the flash off or night time setting. But it will video tape just fine in the dark. what is up with that?

Why is this in pseudoscience?

Orbs artifacts only happen when you use the flash in low-light conditions. You probably won't get any during the day.

unfortunately I could not share my video tape here of the guy on the roof.

They look like fireflies for the most part or as has been stated a lens glare of some sort but nothing "paranormal".

Does your camera have a shutter control switch or program? You'll need to adjust the timer with that device for longer exposure times or you can just leave it open with a shutter release cable whenever you want. With any long duration type of photography you will have to have a very good tripod to affix the camera to so that it doesn't move when doing this type of work.

I contrast-enhanced the photos and added arrows:

Thanks.

It looks like it was an overcast night, possibly with some rain or dew in the air. The orbs are probably reflections from water droplets, due to the flash.
