Yes its sad and very true. Scifi has decided not to pick up farscape for a 5th season. But you can help save it. We've only got about a week before they start tearing down the sets and its gone forever. You can send letters to:

As said by David Kemper the lead writer and everything "Hope is not lost" and that "scifi channel is talking" but we still need to keep sending letters and faxes and emails and everything. Keep up the pressure scapers.

Us scapers have got scifi channel mad, we werent suppose to find out about its cancellation until after season 4 was over and it was to late. But we found before they did and they were a bit embarresed and had to have a emergency press release.

They also lied about ratings. The ratings (reported by scifi channel 2 weeks ago) said that viewership for that show was up 26% and that farscape would return for a 5th and 6th season. But then all of a sudden they said that ratings were too low and that they were canceling it for that reason. Look what happened with star trek, though in the end. They made a bunch of great movies and had a spin off that was arguably better than the original. Maybe this is...what Farscape needs, to get pop culture icon status rather than underground cult. I did send them a long email.

Well, unfortunately the show has jumped the shark (it started when Zan left, though it was still tolerable up until they blew up the command carrier). Without a Big Bad to worry about (Crayce or Scorpius), this season has pretty much been Lost in Space -- every episode they encounter new aliens who do oogy things to them for no particular reason.

I suspect Sci-fi knew they have a dead parrot on their hands. Unfortunately, without Farscape, the SciFi Channel is going to be reduced to running the same dreary horror flicks and reruns that they picked up at some $5.00/tape garage sale and have been running every holiday weekend since before the memory of man.

Now we have to pray that Firefly is as good as advertised because most other space shows suck (Andromeda, Enterprise, etc.).

Farscape treated us to soap opera tripe, laughable special effects and atrocious acting. Science fiction should have some component of science. Farscape has none. Even the premise is ridiculous. It is more like a child's fantasy laced with sex and lowbrow humor.

The actors, for lack of a better word, should save their money while they can. I expect most of them to be back serving lunch at the local diner any day now. The woman who plays Erin might find some work in B-movies or television, but the rest couldn't perform their way out of a wet paper bag.

The SciFi channel has done itself irreparable damage by airing this nonsense. Instead of showing real science fiction programs like Andromeda, or clever satire like Lexx, they have forever labeled themselves as the muppet channel with this garbage.

Farscape sucks harder than the cold vacuum of space.

The show started off very tame, but as it went along it became harder and more serious. Some nice violence and such here and there, and funky space chicks help too. I thought it became much better when they introduced the Scorpius character. True, it was totally devoid of the science part of science-fiction, but it was fun.

PS: My own personal definition of "science fiction" means that the story/setting relies somewhat on fictional science.
