It's hard to believe the Chinese would be that stupid. They would have known that any footage they released would be examined by experts.
The Telegraph (major conservative newspaper) in the UK has published the story. That's enough for me. I'd hate to be the Chinese official that made that boneheaded decision.
It's not as though they really care. The whole purpose was propaganda aimed at the Chinese population - the VAST majority of whom have never seen the Top Gun movie. The government is just trying to make themselves look progressive to boost the spirit of nationalism - a page from the same book the North Koreans use when they threaten "serious nuclear retaliation." Bunch of dummies!!
Oh, the technology gap BS again. It never existed with the Russians, but was a good boogeyman for the sake of the military contractors....
It is so obvious it's Top Gun that it's rather sad. Meanwhile in Russia, they have inflatable tanks and AA guns that look real from satelites...
Why should they show actual footage? Chinese media is all phoney anyway. Why give away secrets when you don't have to?
Hahahaha.... THAT is so funny I have to forward it to my Chinese friend Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
It's really sad when they have to resprt to propoganda to feed the masses. Even if it wasn't Top Gun footage- planes don't blow up the way they did in that footage and perhaps more importantly- blowing up a plane means you're killing the pilot, so who did they kill to make that footage?? Makes no sense...
So who did the USAF kill in this video? A number of airforces modify old aircraft and turn them into unmanned target drones...
what's strange is this was put out for domestic consumption to fool the chinese people but they have seen that movie. they do have some censorship but not that much which is what's so weird about it. of course someone was going to notice. this might have worked in north korea but not china.
