Not only are the corners of a rectangle perfect (e.g., all 90°), but there were four elements, four compass points, and so on. Everything in this context ties back to how the number became significant. Three is an interesting number, because the living experience is the only realm in which one plus one can equal three. Mostly, all you need to do is figure the most basic and primal application of the number on a regular basis in ancient life. Okay, so that's not always easy ("all you need to do"). But, still ....
