Brain Volume Linked to Social Networking By Yun Xie, Ars Technica The size of your amygdala might indicate how large and complex your social network is. Amygdala volume has been connected to social network and behavior in past research, as scientists have found that nonhuman primate species with larger social groups tend to have greater amygdala volumes. Kevin Bickart and his coauthors took the next logical step and examined how amygdala volume varies in humans with different social networks. Their results appear in a recent issue of Nature Neuroscience ... http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/12/social-networking-amygdala/ Source Paper: http://www.nature.com/neuro/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nn.2724.html
very interesting research. Thanks kennyc. I wonder whether this corresponds with aspergers syndrome? I have my final results on the 11th Jan and I'll mention it to Rebecca, my clinical psychologist. Maybe I was born with a small volume amygdala, who knows? Thinking about it, there's recently been reports of 15 minute brain scans being able to determine whether individuals have autism or not. This kind of research is gaining momentum imo
