There is a sequence of keystrokes, involving (I think) the right hand, arrow keys, and some inadvertent simultaneous keypress that can nuke an in-progress post in the vBulletin editor instantly- gone in a flash. I've done it enough times (usually near the end of an over-wordy and over-heated post) to know that I've done it again a split-second before it's gone- I'm usually trying to arrow the cursor somewhere more specific than where I put it with the mouse for a quick change, I make some mysterious finger-fumble, and- POW! the page reverts to reading the last post, as if the editor was never opened at all. "Poof"; up in smoke. Gone. Have you ever experienced this? What key combination can crash the editor? I've tried to deliberately replicate it, but can't. WTF? hmm
It can be useful to put a post together in a local text editor, then pasting the whole thing, rather than risking the vagaries of online editors.
I've done that but since it happened I write all of my posts on WORD first then copy it and paste it here. I found a way to bring back the post that was deleted by hitting the "UNDO" choice when you right click onto the blank page you are on. It works sometimes but not always that's why I use WORD.
We are constantly blessed here, at SciForums, with individual examples of inadvertent self-censorship. "(There was once an age when...) the people did not know that they had rulers. In the next age they loved and praised them. In the next, they feared them. In the next, they despised them." --Lao Tzu
I've had that happen elsewhere, a long winded well crafted response just vanished, and no idea what I did. I figure it's the internets telling me to read more and say less.
Its like; "how the hell can i copy my emotional outburst? i dont feel that way anymore.."Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
