It seems to me that many, if not nearly all, "belief" systems tend towards this idea that "The world will be a better place once everything thinks/believes 'XYZ', which coincidentally, just so happens to be my belief".

Now, some belief meme's the approach of Conversion; that is, by sword or by lollies (or cotton candy for SAM's belief), it's damn well better to convert people - - one way or another.

However, what about acceptance? Is it possible to accept other people's beliefs and in that way convert them? I was thinking, it seems like that's somewhat what we're doing in the West. But, perhaps Indian's and Chinese have done this in the past? I'm not quite sure where I'm going here, but, that's what free thoughts subforum is for

I think you're on to something.
    "I accept you're an idiot."

religion has capitalized on an inherent human condition..
that is of the desire to be right. to not be worthless.
to change anothers beliefs to match ones own, reinforces ones own belief,
try to study this in the context of boss/employee,

i say this as a human condition as even non-religious ppl do this..
religion has just 'owned' it..(figure of speech)

so this idea of converting ppl by acceptance..requires one to accept them.
    to give them worth.

    and also..

    accepting others beliefs is internal..
    converting someone else is external..
