You can tell he tried some of those more than once, there are skidmarks on the road from a previous attempt.

Most of the popping sound was the rev limiter - when he was drifting/spinning the tires it was redlining the engine.
Going 200 MPH in a straight line impresses you, you are impressed very easily then. Althought the motorcycle is doing most of the work by attaining the speed all the rider has to do is hold on while the car driver must perform many differnt things with his steering wheel, clutch, brake and gearbox that it makes his abilities much more profound and skillful...IMHO.
