Come to Michigan! Not very hilly, um...i never thought of it as inspiring, unless you visit the upper peninsula, but most of all you need to experience a real winter! Just stay away from detroit. hehe

Agent@5,

Exchange to America? Come on. What is the point? Okay. US is still better than UK though.

If you want to know what a REAL winter is like, come to Minnesota. hehe *Joeman with an evil grin*

Hey, congrats Agent! I would die to go overseas even for a short time. Well.. lets break it down for ya!

I live in Cali but have been to various states.

North Cali - way better than South Cali. L.A. is full of overinflated egos and wealth (not to mention boobs)

San Francisco rules! It is thee most beautiful city in the world. And its only 45 minutes from me so we could go out! Its close to Napa Valley (wine country) very beautiful. Its a few hours from the Sierra Nevada mountains. Worlds best skiiing!! Very beautiful also, esp. around Oct/Nov. Few hours from Monterey Bay, also very beatiful.
Oregon is absolutely georgous. Best waterfalls and greenery every seen. Really cold in the winter.
Seattle - never been, but heard it rocks.
Salt Lake City is very pretty but very boring.
Wyoming/Nevada/Idaho - Dont you dare!!
Hawaii - now that is nice place to go. Nice beaches, nice scenery, cool kick back peeps, good University. They have a good oceanography program.
Texas - heard its real cool, lots of nice lookin' brown fellows

I dunno.. i dont see the point of coming to the US. I myself would much rather be in a foreign country than here, anyday. Don't come to PA

Wherever you go in the US, be sure to go to the local mall - malls look alike all across the nation, so in one days shopping you can see what the whole of American culture is like!

hmm

you need to move beyond the oft-beaten track and meet people you typically wouldnt see in a mall. america is not to be solely defined by what the majority of people do. tons of subcultures around

I can attest to that... I live in Salt Lake City!
I say, go to COLORADO!!!! It's beautiful, the people are awesome, and there's a ton of stuff to do (Denver/Boulder/Colorado Springs). I lived there for a while and was grief-stricken when I left

Hey Agent@5,

I live about 30 minutes south of San Francisco, and I can easily say it's my favorite American city. New York may be even cooler, but SF has great surroundings. As has been mentioned, Napa, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, and Yosemite are all a short drive away. Napa has world-class wine, Tahoe has excellent skiing, and Monterey has world-class scuba diving. (Yes, I actually can go skiing one weekend, and diving the next!) Yosemite has gorgeous waterfalls and very rugged mountains (4000+ ft. vertical cliffs, for one). SF is beautiful, friendly, fun, and full of culture. The whole area is just awesome, in my opinion.

It looks like there are several of us in the bay area, too -- maybe we should all get together for dinner one night?

Oh, and how can I forget Yosemite national park? And all the live music and culture in the city?
