The union workers already have decent healthcare so they might not like this new plan. Then you have people who are young and don't have many children who will have to pay higher insurance premiums to cover the more sickly people who insurance companies will be unable to turn away. Did Obama just miff many of the people who voted him in? Will he have to do illegal immigrant amnesty to get votes for the next Presidential election?
I have a friend who is in his 60s. He said his rates were raised in anticipation of the bill passing. Most Americans (the majority) are REALLY pissed off about the way this whole thing was done. I have a thread on it and I said the way it was pretty much finalized over Christmas holiday and then rammed through on a Sunday nite despite most Americans NOT wanting it is despicable. It just proves what I said about Obama and that is he is a power-hungry disgrace who wants to take over every aspect of America. He will try to legalized criminal aliens for votes. Americans will uprise again but he won't care. He really is that vile.
I'm just pissed off the republican made such a mess of it. OOOh you bet I'll vote for obama again, its the republicans I'll never vote for now, not after the last year of histrionic paranoia and chronic lying from them.
americans are pissed of because of the lies people like you foisted on them. once theyt actually find out whats in it they are going to be happy.

If your friend had access to a public option his parasitic insurance company wouldn't think twice about doing something so drastic.
So I've been noticing this particular tactic a lot in teabagger rhetoric. That is, the up-front assertion that the majority of Americans are behind whatever sentiment the interlocutor wants to convey at the time. Typically it's totally unbacked, although occasionally there's some spuriously-related Rasmussen robopoll that's supposed to speak for America. So how about this one: most Americans are sick of the teabaggers' fringe rhetoric and lunacy.
I don't see what socialism has to do with it. This bill reinforces our use of private insurance companies. There is no public option.
So by telling people they will be fined if they don't buy their own health insurance the government is providing healthcare to all Americans. What a brilliant idea.
Yes, because we pay anyway when people use emergency rooms. Charging a small fee if you don't have coverage is only fair. It will encourage people to buy into a system that lowers overall cost.
If insurance companies have to cover people with major health problems who they have refused to cover so far, won't costs increase for everyone who is forced to buy the insurance? How is it fair to force someone who is healthy to pay for someone who is not healthy if they do not want to?
Because statistically, everyone is just as likely to get unhealthy at some point. The more people buy into the pool, the lower the overall cost. You don't have to buy insurace, you will just have a small fee, which is like an uninsured tax.
Depends on which plan you choose. Unless you are insured through your employer, then nothing will change.
A new poll released today shows that 49% approve of the bills passage, and 40% disapprove. A victory for the American people and the DNC. http://www.gallup.com/poll/126929/Slim-Margin-Americans-Support-Healthcare-Bill-Passage.aspx
