Well it seems there is another who would like to help broker a deal between Israel and the Palestinians though he lacks the political clout to pull it off:

Luiz da Silva says he'll visit region to push for peace and prevent possible conflict with Iran. Brazil's president plans an active role in world diplomacy during his final months in power, saying he will visit the Middle East to seek peace and prevent a possible conflict over Iran's nuclear program.

Underscoring his push to give Brazil greater global influence, Silva plans to visit Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian-administrated West Bank this week, and Iran in two months.

Silva cited the Iran standoff and the struggling Mideast peace process as proof that the world's traditional powers aren't able to solve problems on their own.

"Who decided that the United States, France, England, China and Russia represent the collective aspirations of our planet, the new geopolitics, the new world order — with nations that were poor yesterday but today are in the midst of extraordinary economic growth?" asked Silva, who has campaigned for a permanent Brazilian seat on the U.N. Security Council.

Question is why would Israel listen to da silva? The Palestinians at this point may do well to seek out another to broker on their behalf but da silva's support of Iran's nuclear ambitions may have them listening with only half an ear. He has asked that Brazil be a permanent member but since its the permanent members who control the board it doesn't really stand a chance even though there has been support shown by both the UK and France back in 2004. But since da silva was so quick to question the UK's sovereignty in the Falklands they might find the UK and France a little put off the idea.

What is it that Brazil can bring to the table in the interest of mid-east peace talks?

You mean like China and Russia?

Probably not much that hasn't already been tried.

Can Brazil get the Palestinians to acknowledge Israel's right to exist?

So, in 25 years when Brazil is a global power, wealthy and with both military and economic clout, um, what will the Brazilians say about all those mean rich people with whom they can then count themselves?

Honest moderation of negotiations, without an oil supply or other military dog in the fight.

The ability to bring in China and other such amoral and disinterested powers neutrally.

I see you have gobbled up Israeli propaganda. Israel has no right to exist. a country "right to exist" is sole a reflection of the legit resident population's who excersized their right to self determination right to exist.

demanding the palestinians to recogzine a made up right is not the way to peace. having Israel recognize the palestinians basic human rights is the way.

    How do you define ``legit''?

Do you think there will ever be anything but a two state solution?

First of all, I'm not sure what this would accomplish, and secondly, why would China suddenly be interested with Brazil doing the moderating?

as legally entering the country or territory and following all local and international law to be the power in the region.

    depends

if we currently go the way we are it will be one Israeli fascist state. if we go along with the less hard line pro Israel folk will get either 2 palestinian states against wishes or one with no means of traveling between the w parts that doesn't have any of the rights of a state. in other words a giant cage like it is now. though if we finally get a spine and some balls and enforce international law we can get one state. A palestinian secular democracy with everyone's rights respected(or as its known in Israeli circles a extremist palestinian plan. which tells you everything you need to know about Israel right there) one where everyone has the same rights and can prosper. a state where some one can be evicted simply because a jewish family want their house.
