I was eating an apple and talking at the same time and somehow I think part of the apple's peel went into my lung. I'm coughing right now randomly (occurred more frequently 10 mins ago, about 30% more paced in coughing).

How long does an apple peel take to decay inside my lung? I'm assuming it won't release any toxins and I won't need immediate medical assistance. If the worst does happens, at least my breath will smell like apples :D

if you cant cough it out, eventually your body will take care of it... a couple of weeks of a lot of mucous activity :)

Go the the pharmacy and ask for "expectorant." It makes your tissues secrete additional mucus as a vehicle for helping you cough stuff out faster. Apples are full of fiber, which does not break down very quickly in the human body. Even in your digestive tract, which is full of enzymes and symbiotic bacteria, most of the fiber you eat comes out in the same form it went in. If it's in your lungs you're going to have to get it out rather than waiting for a process that isn't natural there.
