just wondering, there are many fantasy mmorpgs out there, but very few sci-fi mmorpg, if you were to create one, post some suggestions!

I played anarchy online for awhile. Was so buggy I canceled.

I've always wondered if it was posible with modern computers to create a mmorpg where instead of controling one character you controled between 5 and 10. You could make the advancment levels less so each character only advanced a few levels and make buying weapons and armor for your characters more important not to mention real death would be possible because one of your characters can always "miraculously" escape a situation that wiped out all your characters then get more "volunteers" for your group. I'd be cool to see massive battles between 50 players (500 indivdual characters) on the field of battle. The Lag would probably be hell. O'Well just something I was thinking about.
That's a really interesting idea RonVolk. I think if you had 5 to 10 characters, you'd be zoomed out fairly far. This could allow you to make the characters less detailed... then avoiding graphics card lag. I'm sure you could solve the internet lag in a similar manner. You could send the user's commands (all characters move/shoot here) instead of movement data for each character.

I think it'd make the game original if real time strategy was involved to an extent. Like make it possible to switch viewpoints to one character then set the others on tasks that they'll perform based on their capabilities. Like set 9 characters on holding a position and use the character your directly controlling to sneak around to a sniper postion then use a combination of brute force from your large group and accurate fire from your sniper to destroy them. Probably a thousand other possible strategies.
I think modern PC gamers want graphics though maybe make a window on the left side of the screen that shows the view of one of your characters and the right side that shows the group info like health, if their under attack or not, and if their returning fire or not, underneath that could be a little radar style map that shows the location of characters and any hostiles they've spotted. Like you said about the movement would it be posible to do that with the field of vision where your computer generates the view and the internet only send you object locations?
