Having lived in the Arabian Gulf States for some time I find it hard to belive that the image of aljazeerah tv as the voice of arab free press being promoted by the west is'nt half true . Consider a few points: 1) aljazeerah seems to time their bin laden rethoric exactly when the US and UK need them to ...ala the latest OBL release 2) aljareerah is based in Qatar, the only gulf state that has diplomatic links with Israel Qatar has also fought border wars with saudi arabia ... 3) Qatar is one of USAs strongest partners in the region, also home base for US forces for this war ... there is NO way that their casbah sheiks would have the bollocks to stand up to the US if they wanted to shut down the transmission if the US felt it was a medium through which "terrorist" transmit their messages 4) aljazeerah is run mostly by ex CNN and BBC employees - imports not natives All in all it seems that aljazeerah is projecting itself as the voice of the arab world .... consider who's interest is aljazeerah really serving ???
