which bibble are you talking about and does anyone know what the translations were interpreted as
literal or pictorial?????????????????????
i do belive that there was a being called jessus
and i do follow the idea of (which i think is the biggist of all ????????????????... commands
DO UNTO OTHERS AS THEY WOULD DO UNTO YOU...
OR have i got the meaning in reverse?
does it mean that i should "do to others what i think they would do to me?"
OR
does it mean that i should do unto others what i would have them do unto me????????????????????????/
very confussed on this issue cos there is allot of truely evil people that i have seen in the world and would love the chance to make there life more difficult or at least as much as they make others.
ps HOW MANY TRANSLATIONS OF THE BIBBLE HAVE THERE BEEN AND WHAT TIME PERIOD HAVE THEY OCCURRED OVER????????????????????????
HOPING FOR INFORMED RESPONSE

ripleofdeath,

Depending on the religion, a bible or holy book contains various 'books' of the New and/or Old Testaments. Together, the 'books' which are recognized by a religion as 'holy' become the 'canon' of the religion or the code of religious law for that particular religion.

There are many 'books' in common among the canons of Catholics, Jews and Protestants but the canon of one might only contain some of the 'books' of another. For example, some 'books' are accepted as part of Catholic canon that are not accepted as part of Protestant canon and some books are accepted as part of both Catholic and Protestant canon that are not accepted as part of Jewish canon.

There have been many translations. Most translations have been literal - from the ancient languages to the more modern languages of an era - but because various writers of various books used different literary styles, interpretations are a different matter. Some people interpret the bible literally while others look at the historical context and literary style employed by the writer of a given book - much as we do when interpreting contemporary works.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you -

I hope this helps at least a little.
