- Ricks, Thomas E. "For Vietnam Vet Anthony Zinni, Another War on Shaky Territory." Washington Post, December 23, 2003; page C01. See http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22922-2003Dec22.html
The more he listened to Wolfowitz and other administration officials talk about Iraq, the more Zinni became convinced that interventionist "neoconservative" ideologues were plunging the nation into a war in a part of the world they didn't understand. "The more I saw, the more I thought that this was the product of the neocons who didn't understand the region and were going to create havoc there. These were dilettantes from Washington think tanks who never had an idea that worked on the ground."This is one of those articles that generally speaks for itself. Yes, there seems to be a mild antiwar sentiment on the part of the Post that shows through editorially, despite Zinni's position. But while Zinni is a "strange character" insofar as the media-level polarization of the Iraqi Bush Adventure is concerned, I tend to think that the discussion of people's reaction to Zinni toward the end of the article suggests strongly that Americans feel vastly different about the war than the bipolar media struggle to keep a simplifying ratings game afoot allows.

Perhaps it's time to review the discussion of the war; are we really having the right arguments?
