Would you see humanity reactign in the way they do in the storline? Or do you think people might be more tolerant? What if there were no freaky powers involved? Just outside changes. Kind of like Beast.

would not be very accepted in our society. They aren't now though we have some nondiscrimination laws. But would big companies hire such people? I doubt it. Only on rare occassions do you see such people. We just don't have the patients to educate them either.
Even children can't accept the unlikeness.

Now if they had powers like in Xmen, Most countries would be afraid...i'd have to say especially the US. I mean if you had someone like shadowcat or nightcrawler and your a really rich person...u'd prolly pay the government to have these people on tabs. Look what the US is trying to do to people who are trying to get more power.

I ll be wolverine :) give me that indestructable skeleton and an immune system 100 times stronger and life expectancy of 1000 ;)
