Hypothetical Situation: Say that as we speak a country of supreme power, lets say China, completely invades and takes over the United States. Our military is completely crushed. There are Chinese soldiers standing at nearly every street corner ordered to shoot any American they see. Furthermore, they are doing mass raids, raiding homes and shooting on site. Their only goal is to completely wipe out American citizens. Furthermore, lets say that they DO NOT use any nuclear weapons but instead use ground forces (infantry). Would you be prepared to survive? I'd like to think that I would be. With a number of firearms and a good stock of food here at home, I think I'd survive for at least a few weeks. I made up the following ten question quiz to judge the odds of surviving. Feel free to take it. 1) Do you own any firearms? 2) Do you have atleast 2 weeks supply of food in your home? 3) Do you have atleast 2 weeks supply of bottled water (or your own filtration system)? 4) Do you have any Military, Police, Security, or Survival Training? 5) Are you in good health? 6) Do you have a basement in your home? 7) Do you own a battery-powered handheld radio? 8) Do you live beyond 20 miles of a major city? 9) Do you know how to drive a stick-shift (manual transmission)? 10) Do you live within 100 miles of another country (Mexico or Canada)? Add one point for every "Yes" and post your number. Mine is 7.
I scored a 13. And does it count as a basement if I dig a hole below the foundation level of the house and pitch a tent?
I don't think one could really prepare for such a thing. Best thing you could do is to get the hell out of the country as quick as you possibly can.
This thread made me think of Fallout 3, by the way Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Oh right, you said "no nukes".. lol Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I already own many Yuan and do stock trades with the, http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...pZnmBg&usg=AFQjCNE27uqb8rixwj76T5rv1PXiSHairA , the Chinese Stock exchange so I'm not worried about them taking over with weapons, they will use economics to do so. Since I own shares in their stocks I will still be able to gain money from my dealings within that area whether they are here or there. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
You would be the first to die. A guy barracaded himself in his house and armed- they'd burn your house down with flamethrowers then shoot you as you ran out of the house in flames. It really is amazing- the head trip people get when they have a firearm. All of a sudden they're Rambo and impossible situations pop up where them and their gun is the answer.
The situation assumes that I live in the States. Given that I do not, I guess I receive the highest possible score.
In the event of anything like that, I plan on going home to Mom. Mom has a lot better survival skills than I do. She grew up without power, so that's no big deal to her. She has guns and can hunt. She has a well, enough canned food to last years, a cellar behind/under the basement, and no one would find us in Nebraska.
A few weeks, eh? Lucky you! It sounds like those few weeks of living in terror amidst the destruction and death before finally succumbing would make surviving the original War-of-the-Worlds-style holocaust well worth it. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Well I am in India, but if war broke out here for any reason, I would not be prepared at all. No guns, no food stocks [I buy fresh everyday], no cabin in the mountains. And bang in the middle of the favourite city for attacks in case of any war. Interesting. So Americans do comprehend the possibility that students will arm themselves in case there is an invasion and will do anything to fight it.
Interesting quote coming from an Indian. No- the students will not put down their pencils and pick up guns as they would over there- Americans in general are too self-obsessed to do that. Seriously doubt students would quit college. I do think a percentage of the working public would pick up arms, and this amounts to a lot of people. Pearl Harbor happened and the next day the depression ended. But in the larger picture, I don't see the US as the sole superpower for much longer- we can't afford to constantly be at war.
