When I start Word 2000, select Tools, Language, "Chinese Translation" is greyed out. Also, I'm unable to check Chinese(PRC) under Tools, Language, Set Language.
When I open I386, LANG, CHS from the OS CD all the files are compressed, there is no way to "install" the Chinese language pack. Should I have chosen some language option during the install process?
I want to enter Chinese text from Word 2000 but I am unable to at this point.
My system is Win2k Pro and Office 2000. I have enabled the correct selections under Control Panel, Keyboard Regional Options. There is an icon in the lower right corner that says EN and CH.

I'm unsure of Win 2k, but in XP Pro (very similar O/S) you need to go to your control panel and click on "Regional and Language settings". From there, click on the "Languages" tab and tick the box that says to install the files for East Asian languages. These are not normally installed unless you chose to during the initial set up process, but can be added later.
