They're calling her a traitor and leaving nasty messages on her website.

I'm not supporting Hillary because I don't like or trust her. It has little to do with her being a woman. And I'm not staying away from Obama because of his sex or race. I'm not supporting him because I don't trust him either....

How do they know its women? Whenever I recieve messages I never know who is sending them so how can they determine that they are women only?

You will see that the harshest critics of Hillary are going to be women. Just wait and see.

Hm, I hope this gets some media attention. It would sort of counter the problems Obama had about race. Such women would be a negative association for the Clinton campaign.

How do they know its women?

You have to register to post on Oprah's website. I would bet that at least 90% of her readers/posters are women.

Agreed. If it's Romney vs. Clinton there will be so much anti-Mormon bs
our heads will spin.

If it's McCain, they will attack his being a POW, his health, and God knows what else.

The Repubs will just attack Hillary for her record.

I remember '00 and '04. Fun but exhausting...

If Oprah endorsed Hillary then Blacks would hate her more then they already do. Oprah does to much pandering to the white community, and when she denounced rap music as hate speech, she lost the younger generation. Here's a very poetic summarization of how Blacks feel about Oprah, from Canibus, a supreme lyricist, and Iraq Veteran.

Oprah Winfery don't like Rap
All I got to say about that
Is she probably don't like Black

I don't blame her, she don't understand it's only entertainment
She probalby wouldn't feel the same if she wasn't famous

She "traded places" and her opinions started changing as
"Randolph and Mortimer" increased her wages

That alone can make a person racist
if not racisit with color, then material wise how we treat each other!

Oprah probably doesn't like rap because it is tasteless. Good for her.

Her record? So a Republican, such as yourself, will only attack her for her record? Hmmm... Interesting.. Should I assume her menstrual cycle has suddenly become a part of her record? Since you know, you have a slight obsession with 'attacking' her for it.

I'm also concerned about her menopause. Menopausal women can be scary. And dangerous. If she's on hormone replacement "therapy", that could be troublesome as well.

I don't see anything attractive about Hillary in any way.

And then of course there was the time when you said you didn't care about her menstrual cycle, just her "dark heart and evil spirit". Tell me, is that part of her record as well?

I disagree. I don't really care that Hillary is a menopausal b!tch. I care that she has a dark heart and an evil spirit. That bothers me more than anything else about her.

Oh, wait.. back on her menstrual cycle. Again, is this part of her political record?

What hate? These are facts, jack. Get with the program. What are you, from another planet?? Do you know anything about any of the candidates that is not from the media? Well, I do... And if you knew ANYTHING about menopause, you would know a menopausal woman should NOT be in the White House--especially with such major decisions to make during wartime. Grow up. Read up. Menopausal women can be very
dangerous.

I said "the Repubs will just attack her for her record." I didn't say "I" would just attack her for her record. I don't like anything about her. She's vile. :(

And most secular rap sucks. Good for Oprah for saying so. :)

Ha ha, look at what Rossane Barr said about Oparah.

You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, Hollywood and dieting!”

“Oprah has given us Swartzenegger and Dr. Phil,” Roseanne rants. “If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama.”

It's a lose/lose/lose situation all over again!

There is truth in this. And I think that's part of the way it should be. The only doubt I have about the propriety is that the common bond is womanhood.

But aside from that, I think one of the hardest questions facing liberals would be not only to gain the White House but for the people to also hand them a proper supermajority in Congress, or at least a cloture majority. The more power placed in the hands of the Democrats, the greater the liberal obligation to remind those politicians of the demands of that party affiliation. Democrats of the modern age have struggled to fulfill a certain mythical expectation, and whether it was ever fair to brand them as liberals, the Democrats are where liberal voters have chosen to invest their faith. So it should be that if the disparate factions of the Democratic coalition—greens, labor, socialists/communitarians, peaceniks, equal justice, feminists, &c.—will coalesce in order to invest that kind of authority in the Party, they will also be the ones who carry the burden of keeping that power in line.

It's part of the liberal sense of pride. The GOP may lockstep come the ballot box, but their game is strictly about power. We on the left perceive absolutely no integrity in the conservative coalition. The hard capitalists will compromise with the social conservatives in order to profit by the votes. The evangelicals will attempt to exploit the fiscal conservatives in order to augment their sense of dominion. Both will pander to the libertarians for votes. And never do any of them ever take a step back. Thus, while we know a Republican administration like Bush/Cheney will never pay attention to serious criticism, we must demand integrity of the coming Democratic administration.

The more liberal one gets, the greater the obligation.

And well it could be with feminism and women. One of the things many of my generation heard during our youths in America was a strange denigration of minorities. Dr. King, according to some, is an example of what's wrong with black people. He cheated on his wife, which is apparently a bigger offense against his blackness than it is his role as a minister. After all, there are no adulterous white ministers, right? I actually asked a friend of mine, who is of an older generation, about a certain irony in the Bush administration. And no, my generation is not alone in this. We're painfully aware of a faction that would look at the diversity of the Bush administration as a testament against minorities. Rod Paige? Black man? Secretary of Education? Called teachers terrorists. Margaret Spellings? His successor? Woman? Corrupt. Used her office to attempt inappropriate content control. Condi Rice? Black woman? Secretary of State? One of the biggest lying sacks of crap in decades. A freakin' poodle. A lap dog to a corrupt administration. Her predecessor? Colin Powell? Once the most popular and powerful black man in American politics? He may well still be, but his reputation is seriously damaged because, after all, he strolled on down to the U.N. and, oh, lied in order to foment war. Alberto Gonzales? I would hope nobody's forgotten that debacle.

More than their sex or ethnic heritage is the fact that they are all Republicans, and the fact that, when their nation most needed them, they sold us out. But I'm of a generation that remembers an old racist argument, that these folks are perfect examples of why you don't give minorities power. While most of us would not bother even trying to pretend there's an ethnic aspect to it, many are still haunted by the suggestion—most likely exaggerated by time and sharpened by cynicism—to the other.

And so the women are feeling the pressure. There is a joke, and a fair one, about the rude awakening for the feminists when they started getting their way. In trying to be like men in the workplace, the feminists eventually discovered that they were not, by their labors, emerging from denigration. Rather, it turns out they were attempting, at best, to trade a sex-based denigration for the general hatred and humiliation of the American workplace. (And that, incidentally, is where a good deal of the problem still lies; there is an inherent sexism about the culture that we have not yet transcended, and it is difficult for many, including some feminists, to tell the difference between specific misogyny and general misanthropy.)

Thus, while Hillary has the chance to break one of the most hallowed glass ceilings in American society, she will—for her vagina—be subject to extraordinary scrutiny above and beyond the demands on any other president. Including Bill.

Sadly, we can expect right-wing media outlets to emerge as the leading forces in the Inquisition. It should be liberals in general, and perhaps feminists in particular. But their voices will only serve as fodder for exploitation by FOX, hate radio, and paranoid newsletters.

As to Oprah? I think it's disappointing that society in general hasn't turned against her brand of bullsh@t. If they're going to make it a black vs. woman thing, whatever. It's freakin' Oprah Winfrey.
