hey,
I just got a new computer!!!
So i had the tough decision of what to do w/my old and rusty computer, i heard that one of my co-workers was using an old windows 95 comp and did not even have enough room to install tetris(i am not exagerating). So i decided that i would give it to her.
The only problem is that my dad insists that we wipe the HD and re install windows.
Well i started out by finding the System Restoration CD. Popped it into the drive and oppened it, well everything went fine untill it told me to take out the disk so that it could re-boot.
This is when the troubble started, after it rebooted it asked me to insert the Operating System Backup CD.
I have no idea what this CD is.
I got my old computer from my mom's office and she is not very good at keeping the original CDs.
Does the Operating System Backup CD come with the computer, if so is there a place that i could get one for a windows 98?
TY in advance

Sounds like it is just trying to recover a backed up system (easy guess) but what you want to do is a fresh install of windows. Your dad is correct to insist doing it, any of the files that you had/have on that computer are still there (surf for porn? personal documents?) and you may not want her to see those.

Is your computer an OEM system? (Compaq or HP, whatever, that came with windows preinstalled?) then you may have windows already on your hard drive... look into windows system files... maybe in an options folder in there might be a bunch of cab folders and a setup file that will run a reinstallation of windows for you. I had an Acer and a Compaq that both had windows on the hard drive like this... the PC didn't come with a windows disk.

If this is too complicated for you or if you have another option or two on your recovery disk then try those.
