Greetings,
Anyone know how to circumvent Windows Update? No.. I'm not trying to avoid the Verification Checker, I just cannot stand the way all the updates aren't singularly listed for download anymore like it was back in the 'good old days'. Personally, I have very little use for Windows Update, but I'd like to grab that WMF malware patch.
Any suggestions?

In XP right-click on your desk top icon for My Computer (you can also do this from Start> Control Panel> Automatic Updates) - either disable completely or choose one of the options available that better suits your needs.
If y'do disable though, windows will place a red shield in your system tray to make you feel guilty every time you use the blessed thing though - using the partial options turns that to amber.

Thanks Mr Anonymous, but you misunderstood me.
I know for a fact that one can download individual Windows Update 'patches' (or hotfixes, or whatever..) without going through Windows Update (which scans your system, checks validation, and then amasses a list...).
I seek to directly download one single file: the Microsoft official WMF patch.

leopold99,
Thanks man.... I never would have thought that Softpedia would have had a direct link...
Interestingly, I just found a work-around... you can go to Microsoft Developer Tools and get stuff directly from there.
Cheers.
