What kind of idiot removes the offensive jokes thread? I guess the kind of idiot that doesn't mind a more peripheral approach to where offensive jokes go i.e., places where offensive jokes are not tolerated. Oh wait, maybe he's not an idiot after all. Perhaps that was the intention of some brilliant, elaborate ploy to have us reveal our true neuroses.

I find my purpose here is fleeting the more I stay away from "green influences".

I have no idea who it was.. obviously it had to have been a supermod or an admin. But why is this just now coming up? It's been locked/deleted/whatever for a long time.

I don't get it. How is the "offensive jokes" thread any worse then the "why are girls so stupid" thread. Jeez. The priorities of these damn moderators.

It really depends on who is doing the moderating.

Personally, I think the Most Offensive Jokes thread was fine. All the bad humor could stay in one place. I don't know who closed it or why. The "why girls are so stupid" is open just because it's a "free thought." There are off-color jokes in there, yes. Maybe I'll move it, maybe I won't. A few looks at that thread makes me laugh.

Everyone has to remember that all the mods/supermods/admins are volunteers. We don't have a comprehensive list of ways we can all be consistent in moderation. There are a few rules here and there about what we can and cannot do, but for the most part we each do what we think needs to be done.

Boo hoo hoo, excuses, excuses. I expect all our mods to be entirely consistent and furthermore: superhuman.

Cesspool forum is created as an alternative for silly, stupid, rubbish threads.
Instead of that we could just delete them. That would be much easier for mods and admins.
But no, we decided to keep them.

Sometimes those threads cross the line and this was the case with this thread.

This is an example:
When someone type some sick, pervert or twisted term in browser, that will now lead him/her to SciForums. And this is not what I want for this place.

This is scientific forum, place for intelligent discussion, as you all know, and it's no place for such rubbish, no matter how open-minded we all are.

I'm not against this thread, but it crossed the line. That's the reason why it's been closed.

If someone doesn't like this idea, feel free to walk out.
We don't need sick and pervert individuals here.

Look, I don't want to start an argument- it's not worth it- I just hate to think a popular and funny thread was closed because one person found it offensive and used their authoritahhh to shut it down.

Think about it. Dave was in charge for a long time. Obviously Dave, James R, and goofyfish KNEW the thread existed. There should be no doubt about it. So, what changed? New admins. It's clear to me an admin ended the thread.

Edit: Seems I am right, Plazma admitted it.

"Free thought" is obviously a misnomer for the discussion area you see at the top of the page here, because a person who had violated no written rule was banned for thirty days by James R for some jokes that James didn't like. I guess freedom isn't free.

Perhaps the 'bosses' should post exactly what they do and don't like. Favourite colour, most hated member of Westlife, swear words that make them cry, etc.. This will prevent any furthur admins getting all upset.

If you are that annoyed by racist slurs then ban the users making the racists slurs, not take the pleasure away from the other users.
