Avatar 05-19-02, 10:52 AM is tht microsoft's mouse? if so thn no wonder:D Stryder 05-19-02, 01:41 PM Are mice you tried different in protocal, namely does one use a PS/2 port or a COM1 Mouse. If this is the case, then that might be the problem. sjmarsha 05-20-02, 03:13 AM No its not microsoft, if it was I wouldn't be that worried cause I could buy a wireless one... And no they are all com1. I have around 15 different mice that I have collected down the years and only one works. Its driving me crazy cause its so rubbish it keeps on breaking.. Please help! ismu 05-20-02, 04:18 AM Perhaps there is something wrong with your BIOS settings. Check it's port weather it conflict or not (Some COM devices may conflict). I've experienced that while add new ethernet card. Automatic setting won't work. You must search for non-conflict port manually. Or you should try using PS/2 mouse if your PC support it. sjmarsha 05-21-02, 02:04 AM Yeh but my mouse works at the moment, its only when i take this one out and plug in another... Clarentavious 05-21-02, 02:21 AM You're using a serial port mouse? COM1? Yes, if you are doing that and have a collection of 15 mice, you really are living in the Dark Ages! ;) Get yourself a mouse that runs on PS/2 Also, turn off your computer (and I mean off, as in the power is turned off, not restarting) before plugging it in. You can also check your BIOS settings as that other guy recommended. Or you can get a mouse that runs on USB. I have an optical mouse with a scroll wheelie that works great (except logitech makes shoddy drivers.....). sjmarsha 05-21-02, 11:19 AM Yeah, that would be good. Unfortunatley I do not have a USB or a PS2 port... I will try the bios settings tommorrow. Joeman 05-21-02, 11:56 AM Originally posted by sjmarsha Yeah, that would be good. Gifted 06-12-02, 09:24 PM Make sure you have the right drivers installed as well. sjmarsha 06-13-02, 02:10 AM Just went out and bought a pci-usb card. A different mouse works now thank god!!! A4Ever 06-14-02, 02:31 PM I have an intellimouse explorer 3.0 optical mouse. (it was a present :) ) It works just fine, except it is not recognized for the mouse that it is. It is only recognized as a previous model, so the neat side buttons don't work and are not programmable. Well, they do work in windows, but not in other programs. |
