View Full Version : Why so many bugs?
fishtail 05-10-07, 03:26 PM Spiders, earwigs, Beatles, i am sure there is a huge increase in them this year
,do bugs thrive in a warmer climate, any way of getting rid of them without toxic sprays?
spidergoat 05-10-07, 03:32 PM They do tend to thrive in warmer, wetter weather. I suggest making a toad house outside, because toads eat lots of bugs. Same with birdhouses, and bat-houses. You can also buy praying mantis eggs, and ladybugs, they eat lots of bad bugs, too.
Sock puppet path 05-10-07, 03:33 PM Other bugs are the best way. Here in Norway we have been blissfully free of coachroachs but they have started showing up.
Yeah like spider says bird and bat houses are good bats eat huge amouts of bugs.

Good ideas, thanks.
I should think one of these spiders will be a feast for a toad, they are mutants.
Killjoy 05-10-07, 04:18 PM Spiders, earwigs, Beatles...
Have another look...
I'm pretty sure their numbers are decreasing...

fishtail 05-10-07, 04:27 PM Maybe they are congregating on my house, a sort of mass exodus to my place
just to drive me nuts.
one_raven 05-10-07, 04:29 PM Very few here, actually.

I have seen 3 BIG spiders in my living room in the last half hour and i have to
clear webs daily, i must have some of the most prodigious web spinners in
the world.
one_raven 05-10-07, 04:47 PM Bugs are attracted to fishtails.

Doh,
one_raven 05-10-07, 05:18 PM I think it's the smell.
Perhaps you should look at the bugs they prey on. getting rid of them would get rid of the spiders.
fishtail 05-10-07, 05:37 PM I think it's the smell.
Normally i smell of gunk, oil, wd40, ozone.
Bugs are cool.
I like bugs.
Yay.
phonetic 05-10-07, 05:46 PM I've noticed lots of spiders around recently. I let them do their thing.
If there were any proper poisonous in the UK I might be worried, but they're all harmless little things that are fun to watch. Except midgies. Grr. Still, they're not really out yet.

If can find a way to capture the little Bs intact i will send you all of mine, i am
sure there are some new species amongst them.:D
Warm winters also do great for bug populations.

i dont care if its random.

EmptyForceOfChi 05-10-07, 09:08 PM if you dunk spiders in beer they get drunk and fight each other,
peace.
RubiksMaster 05-11-07, 01:55 AM If there were any proper poisonous in the UK I might be worried, but they're all harmless little things that are fun to watch. I really wish I could think a spider was "fun to watch." Spiders are the one thing I hate about summer time. I freak out at the regular house spiders, which I see several times a day.
Any other bug is fine by me, but I have such an intense fear for spiders.
Nikelodeon 05-11-07, 03:24 AM Throwing ants into a spider's web is fun to watch.
