Sometimes I find little rodent intestines on my doorstep. I figure my two cats are catching rodents and eating everything except the guts. I don't know why they just don't eat everything. I hate cleaning up this mess. Why do my cats do this?
dude, cant you like teach your cats to not have it on the doorstep? Like scare them when they do it....or show them a place where they can leave it. Yeah I agree w/ takandjive.
It could be the remains of sacrifices to you made by a secret mouse cult that believe you're a god. Why blame the poor cats?
Yes, I don't want the guts on the step. But I what I want to know is why the cats just wont finish the job and eat the whole dang thing. T/J I think is right. they must know the guts aren't good for them.
If they leave you the head you've got it made: that's the bit they like best and leaving it for you indicates they like you - they're giving you a treat. According to one cat book I read anyway.
This is where I disgust everyone and state how absolutely great brains taste. Very high in cholesterol though. Your cats might stop hunting if you get toys and play with them more.

That's interesting. I wonder what it means to be leaving me the worst part? never mind. don't answer that.
I was told cats do this sort of stuff as a nice gesture... I used to have a cat that would kill mice and give one to my mom.. and her only. In addition, that cat hated everyone in the house except my mom.
What if they are leaving it for you to show that they are doing their duty, getting your household rid of pests. It is an offering and a check for you that they are being their best you expect of them.
