Why do people prod for opinions on musical taste or 'what band is the best'? The only logical answers are that the authors of threads are:

a) sincerely interested in what music people enjoy.

OR

b) the author wants to show off the names of their favorite bands like a badge on their backpack, trying to get people to conform to their tastes in a completely futile attempt.

B is evident in polls where the band names are only confined to certain band choices or a particular genre.

So just answer my question.

They want their choice celebrated and supported. They seek
communion with others because there's insecurity inside and
deep down they want acceptance...

... or they just want to know what the hell other people listen to :D

Or, they want to know what's the "coolest" music to listen to, because they are too insecure to have an opinion for themselves.

or maybe they are just too bored and cannot think of better post...which reminds me...
