View Full Version : Who do you fear?

A simple question, the same as on the Time Magazine poll. Of USA, Iraq, and North Korea, which do you fear?

USA:
- Used nukes on civilian cities, has claimed the right to use them again.
- Has used chemical weapons in warfare.
- Has used chemical weapons against foreign civilians.
- Has tested chemical weapons against its own citizens.
- Has attacked more countries in the past 50 years than have North Korea and Iraq combined.
- Has killed over half a million civilians since 1940.
- Has one of the largest stockpiles of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.

Iraq:
- Has used chemical weapons against civilians.
- Might be developing/storing lots of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.
- Neglects developing infrastructure and instead spends resources on keeping dictator alive.

North Korea:
- Is developing nuclear weapons.
- Neglects development of infrastructure and instead spends resources on a massive military.

Are you asking about which the USA has used?

Here is one example. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,65162,00.html)

Also Agent Orange, in Vietnam. A CIA project named MK-Ultra was shut down in 1973 for such things as dropping LSD in a university water supply.

USA with George Bush at the helm is one scarey thought and because of this, a monkey (not Kyle ;) ) incharge of the most powerful country in the world could do more damage than Iraq and N.Korea combined. USA is the catalyst in the whole equation.

Which do I fear to do what?
To hurt my nation or myself? None
To be a detriment to it's own people? Iraq (though mainly in Iraq I fear for what might happen when Saddam dies, providing no war happens before that, and someone else takes over).
To be a detriment to the planet? I think is what you might be asking, but it's far too broad a question. Take, for instance, the fact that Argentinian leader Videla was more detrimental than NK, Iraq or US are today; but in the 70s would you have feared Videla to hurt others outside Argentina? No. So while the States at that time may have hurt more people outside itself (and thus been more detrimental to the planet), Argentina under Videla was much more "evil".

Imagine an army of a quarter of a billion reasonably equipped and acting as a war machine. Moving from one asian country to another without regard for casualties and just stripping whatever equipment and supplies they need. No matter how many you could reasonably kill as long as they procreate in the back you would never run out of soldiers.

THAT is what china is capable of if it could unite its people even once. After that it would be self propagating.

China has been quietly working away on building up it's military, buying some very advanced military equipment, weapons, boats, etc from Russia. They've been growing strong ties with countries that view America as a threat. And their media has written countless stories that they plan to go to war against America within ten years. I also believe if you following the yellow brick road of the sep 12th incidents it will take you back to china.

As long as Bush is still the (dick)head of his government, my vote goes to US. A moron with such military might at his disposal is a very very scary scenario.

Next would be Iraq as long as Saddam is running things. I have no doubts the nutty things this guy is capable of. And that moustache - there's something very unsettling about that moustache.

Richard - what is the Sept. 12th incidents that you're referring to? Or do you mean Sept. 11?

Truthseeker - you're right about the birth control laws in China. I think it's one child per family (or is it two?). So I don't think they'll have endless supply of people resources in the back - unless they reverse their policy in times of war.

yeah 11th your time. It was the 12th here. My first impressions that day were that it was bound to happen, but then more as I began to watch it I got the feeling that if anyone followed the trial it would lead back to China. My mind just kept going back to china.

There is something that interests me, Russia has continued to upgrade Iraq's weapons, China has been upgrading their air defence systems.

Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, who was a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is convinced that China is planning a major war with the US.

Also, from an article I have on file Strategic writings by China's military and party leaders show that China is making plans for war, according to a new Pentagon study. Some 600 translations of internal Chinese writings by 200 authors reveal China's strategy to defeat a superior foe, using both military and nonmilitary means, such as propaganda, deception and covert action.

There is an article somewhere, I can't remember where at the moment that talks about Russia and China preparing for a world war. Hmmmm.

As a chinese person, I think you are generalizing here... it seems to me that you think the chinese people don't resist their oppressive government, that they accept their forced lifestyle and do nothing to change it. But actually, they do. Like others people around the world, they protest the injustices they face. I've heard and read stories about the chinese striking because they want better benefits from their jobs. Chinese students calling for a more democratic system along with a number of other issues. So as you see, these people do not have a 'different mentality' - which is being slaves of the government, just letting everything slide while the Man is pocketing all their money. I do think they have a similar mentality with many other peoples around the earth - a common struggle that unites everyone... and that is one for a better society where the rich do not get richer while the poor get poorer...and to me, that is the good fight...

Maybe you are under the impression that they have a slave mentality because unfortunately, they need to eat, they need a roof over their heads... so, they need a job. And if working for low pay and no benefits is the only one you can find at the moment, they pretty much don't have a choice. But this doesn't mean they feel like thats the way things are and nothing can be done about it, they realize how unjust it is and will protest.

China is the furthest of my worries at the moment, they seem like pretty neat guys. And what right doesanyone have from stopping China from becoming a superpower? None whatsoever. If the US decides to stop them somehow, I shall burn a US flag as a sign of my disgust. So hypicritical.

Anyway, if there should be a war, the parties involved should agree to not using nukes for the concequences will be dire. And if this agreement was to be reached and someone broke it, I will personally shoot the person who made the desicion, and this is no joke. There is no honour with carrying out cowardly attacks that kill innocent civilians.

Xev, weakness is those who put their heads in the sand, accept things as they are and refuse to fight for change. Weakness are those who accept the lies about losing their freedoms to fight terrorism. I don't understand much about man, but I do know that we have allowed corporations and governments to dictate our lives and take away our true freedom. Weakness is knowing something wrong happens and sitting back accepting it. People who fight for change aren't weak, those who accept the way the US government works are weak. Those who justify the actions of such government are weak. Those who believe war is a solution are weak. Those who look at this race with disgust and refuse to do anything about it, are weak.

Most people would say the USA has a high standard of living. But in truth I live a rather Spartan life, and don't see much value in having an additional two televisions.

1) Kent State University, May 4th, 1970.

2) The VMADS (http://www.google.com.au/search?q=VMADS+USA+crowd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&meta=) system.

Hi-tech cattle prod?

Millions of dollars and many years have been devoted to the idea of directed-energy weapons, and we apparently have a winner.

But it is not the missile-busting, outer-space giant killer we were promised in the 1980s. According to the Marine Corps Times, which broke the story, this hi-tech weapon turns out to be the “Vehicle-Mounted Active Denial System.” The March 5 Times describes the VMADS as both a non-lethal weapon and “the biggest breakthrough in weapons technology since the atomic bomb.”

Imagine being in a microwave oven—anyone attacked by the beam quickly feels a burning sensation as moisture in the skin moves toward the boiling point. (Whether the beam can kill and how long it would take became the subject of press speculation, but details of the beam’s potential are classified.)

Because the “people zapper,” as the Times dubbed it, is not the most portable of weapons, the current prototype is sitting on a large packing crate at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, although a Humvee-mounted system is expected soon.

Despite its limited portability, Marine Col. George Fenton, director of the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate, insists the VMADS will be ideal for crowd control.
