I would hazard the guess that folks need a little more info as to why they should answer, or to what purpose the poll is for. Most probably will not answer unless there is purpose to it.

Number one is more mysterious.

You don't know what can come out of it.....number 2 is just a circle...just a plain old circle.

Whats the point of the poll? What the hell is this thread about?
Am I the only one that is confused?

What would be the point of me telling u!?? If i was trying to see something then me telling people would invalidate the results! I dont know if it will really prove anything. probably not. But im interested anyway.

Its about space chris ok!?? dot 1 has no space available (its all taken up) and dot 2 has space which can be taken.

Pete,

Perhaps…but...

1 is a hole in a piece of paper.
2 is a failed punched hole.

1 is the photograph negative of a star.
2 is a hoop seen from about a mile away.

1 is a microdot from a spy movie.
2 stands for zero.

.
.
.
.
Without a frame of reference they could represent millions of things.

p_ete2001

Yeah maybe. but it still comes down to space (IMO).

i see ur point but..............!
a hole in a peice of paper is a hole. there is space there.
a failed punched hole has no space.there is nothing to take

a star takes up space. it exists within space. u cannot climb inside a star (i dont think u can anyway)
a hoop has space in the middle.

a microdot is printed on something. maybe a peice of paper!? can u get inside it?? no. it has no space which can be taken.

i think everything can be broken down like this.

the number zero as a symbol can be 'taken'. the ink that forms the circle itself takes the space that it is covering but the space inside is still part of the O isnt it!? (hope u can see what im saying)

i hjave continued my thinking and it has got me to semiotics; signs and symbols. BTW, anyone know if there are any good books about this??
anyway. i think the shape of a symbol or letter helps to give the word meaning. for example (my examples are terrible so please forgive me :( ) the words 'boobs' and 'tits' are both describing the same thing(s) right!? yet they have different meanings. (i think ull all agree) tits is more explicit. boobs is funnier right!?? i think its because of the double O in the middle. i havent fully worked all of this out yet but im getting there.

x is a 'mean' (probably not the best words) letter because it has no space that can be taken and it is spiky on all sides (just about). i think they all catch ur attention as well.

explicit, sex,

u may be able to think of some which dont work but!!! there are other letters that are used in conjuction with each other and this changes the meanings as ur mind is shown one letter and then the next. (it changes the way u feel. it may relax u and then if u are hit with a 'nasty' letter u are going to be shocked more than if u had already seen a nasty letter because u werent unprepared)

my point is that as a child is it the meaning of a word or the image that is conjured in ur mind from the experience of the word. Before u are told what words mean u have to learn the alphabet right!?? (in our countries anyway) So i dont think it is the meaning of the word (although i think this has some effect) but the letters themselves. the shape they are. their image.it is from here that the different letters have meaning to u. Tits and boobs mean the same thing so why is one viewed differently than the other.

cunt is a horrible word.
kunt is horribler. the k is spiky.thats the only difference.

i hope u can understand what i am saying. i think it would be interesting to look at some japanese/chinese words. They are just symbols too! they have a symbol for a whole word dont they!?

(NO stealing my ideas!!)

p_ete2001

Not only is the K spikey but it is not symetrical (as we look at it and experince it.i do know that it has symmetry!)
To understand something u have to open urself up to it. to learn what a letter/symbol looks like u must look at it and take it in. This is what happens when we learn the alphabet and we therefore experience each letter and it effects us and out feelings.
The O is symmetrical and is no real danger is it? it is balanced and therefore a 'safe' letter. It is smooth and has no spikes what so ever.it is a placid symbol. Our experince of the letter O is a nice one. x is spiky. it is however also balanced (symmetrical as we look at it and therefore is 'safe' because it is balanced but also 'unsafe' because it is spiky. K is unbalanced (not symetrical as we look at it) and therefore unstable and so makes us feel unstable. it is also spiky. Anyone else think that k is a horrible letter? (graffitti!! deliberate mispelling eg Kool)

So when we view a symbol we must open ourselves up to it in order to understand it. By never looking at the K you would not know what it is. By looking at it (if only to remember it so u can recognise words) you are allowing it into yourself. you have to let it into your memory. thats what you are taught at pre-school (or whatever u want to call it). because the letter has to enter you it effects the way u feel.

The arrangement of the letters is important too.this arrangement effects the whole experience.

p_ete2001,

That's very interesting... but... :D
before answering, I want to let myself very clear. By any means I'm trying to be mean to you with those answers. I agree with you in all those things. I studied many languages and the history of many of them and observed those facts. My intention here is to have a good time, instead of criticizing you. If by any means you find my writings offensive, I apologise to you in advance.

i think the shape of a symbol or letter helps to give the word meaning.

Yeah... but mostly in Asiatic and Ancient languages. Ancient languages allways come from symbols. Hebrew, Chinese, Greek and Japanese are good examples. For example, the word "Sun" in chinese is written like as a square. However, in the early days of chinese they used to draw a sun, like kids do. Later, it was developed into what we have nowdays. ;)

for example (my examples are terrible so please forgive me ) the words 'boobs' and 'tits' are both describing the same thing(s) right!?

HAHAHAHA!!! :D
Indeed!! VERY good examples!! :D
Yeah... they describe the same thing... I believe so... :D

yet they have different meanings. (i think ull all agree) tits is more explicit. boobs is funnier right!??

Yeah... I agree "boobs" are funnier... ;)

i think its because of the double O in the middle. i havent fully worked all of this out yet but im getting there.

Yeah! And this leads us back into the first quote! :D

explicit, sex,

Your examples, as usual, are very entertaining, rather then "terrible" as you quoted yourself. However, I'm clinged to imagine that you are a teenager and your hormones are going wild... :D

there are other letters that are used in conjuction with each other and this changes the meanings

Like "boobs" again...?

(it changes the way u feel. it may relax u and then if u are hit with a 'nasty' letter u are going to be shocked more than if u had already seen a nasty letter because u werent unprepared)

Like in an orgy... it's all nasty... It may relax u and then...

my point is that as a child is it the meaning of a word or the image that is conjured in ur mind from the experience of the word.

Not in modern writing. It's too different from images by now. Language is just a code that you have to memorize.

they have a symbol for a whole word dont they!?
Sometimes there are combinations of two or more words...
But they also have radicals, which are completly based on shape... so you got that right... ;)

Nice to talk to ya. Hope see ya around again... ;)

PS: I have a question... Why gender is relevant in this pool?

Well it was in the begining truthseeker but i veered off as i started thinking about things. Started on space and moved to symbols etc (you read the post.) :bugeye: strange habit i have :D :D
