I was just curious about the political leanings of this forum.

I used to be a member of the International Socialist Organization(ISO)
http://www.socialistworker.org/
but left due to problems I had with their policies of focusing overly on selling their newspaper, their refusal to have dealings with other groups, position that all religion is counter-revolutionary, and urging people to join without fully understanding what that means.
I've yet to find any particular party or group or category that I fully agree with.

This will be an interesting demographic, if everyone votes.

Some of the categories overlap.

James R,
Thats true, all the commie types overlap with marxist for example, however it is possible to be a marxist without being a maoist, stalinist, trotskyist, etc..
and also an anarcho-syndicalist is still an anarchist but i inlcuded these distinctions because I believe there is enough difference between someone who is only a marxist or only an anarchist than someone who fits into one of the more specific groups...this thread obviously is not an all-inclusive objective poll, its my poll, and as such includes the distinctions that are interesting to me,
for example, as I am a leftist, I am interested in the distinctions between the different leftist groups.

I am definetly independent swaying back and forth from left to right like a flag pole in the wind. It depends on the issue. Lately a strong left wind has been howling in my direction.

The closest fit for me is libertarian.

I hold individual freedom in highest regard, I am conservative economically, and I favor a hands-off foreign policy.

Centrist/moderate, but not really straight middle of the road. I'm all over the board, but it all seems to balance out. On domestics I'm to the left on personal liberties, against the death penalty, but conservative in that I prefer that government take a laissez faire approach to business and a smaller bureaucracy. More conservative in foreign affairs, but although not hawkish, I'm not a pacifist. I believe in a strong military.

I'm a lefty with socialist views but I need to educate myself more before I can choose a group or party. :D

Have no political tendencies or identity. Getting to the bottom of things in trying to find the truth is already complicated enough.

I do not identify myself with any form of system,...I'm human.

not something like encapsulating and limited as commiting your LIFE for crying out loud, to a political system,...

there's a test somewhere in another thread, there was a link to a website to test your political afinity,...

I would classify as center-left minded.

But that's not your question, YOUR question is where would you place yourself on a political map,...

I have to say again that I think that test is pretty silly and doesn't give an accurate view of politics with questions like,

"Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all."

"Astrology accurately explains many things."

"Some people are naturally unlucky."

which have nothing to do with politics

but that said, my score:

Economic Left/Right: -9.75
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -8.97

seems about right to me.

Presently I'm playing around with the term, Anarcho-Pacifist, seemingly necessitated by the growing violence among revolutionary anarchists.

The problem with Anarchism is that it offers few, if any solutions. It's well and fine to point out the problems of structured life, but how can one offer a structural solution when the basis of one's identification is the rejection of structure?

Nonetheless, if I ever figure it out, be assured I'll let y'all know.
