You mean an ugly cesspool of human filth. Cities disgust me.

In Europe, you know, the place with history.
If by history, you mean ancient and smelly cities that reek with humanity, then yeah, whatever gets you off.

The oldest shrines in Europe go back perhaps 100000 years, those are neanderthal bear shrines.
But the cities are very nice too.

We don't know if there is a multiverse or just one universe. Statistically multiverse is a lot more likely.

Spring is awesome, but consider the fact that Calgary has a much colder Autumn than other parts of the world.

It's not uncommon to see snow in September. This time of year we have record lows dipping greater than that of many cities above the arctic circle. However.. the warm chinook winds of Winter all but make up for it. We have the chinook to thanks for Calgary being the 3rd most temperate city in Canada... heck they even named a mall after it.

One more thing - we don't have the wet maritime or continental Autumns of Europe. They're sunny, windy and a dry cold that bites the skin.

I'm in Cyprus in the Med. I just came back from a holiday in Turkey, but because we're Greeks it was actually a holiday in Asia Minor covering Smyrna and Constantinople where we saw all the ancient Greek cities and relics including Ephesus and Troy.

The public toilets in Asia Minor are disgusting hole in the floor affairs reeking of piss and without any toilet paper even though they charge you like 0.20 EU to enter them.

Next week I shall be travelling to the UK, another European shit-hole, which has become a police state over the past few years.. yucks!

tablariddim, I didnt know that they found where troy was, it is supposed to be a big mystery.

Avatar
09-08-05, 03:50 PM
It was quite a sensational discovery made many years ago. I forgot the name of the scientist who discovered it.
He took Homer's "Illiad" as his prime source of information.

Odin'Izm
09-08-05, 03:53 PM
Ye I heard about that aswell, but his findings are still desputed because the walls of the city he found were too small to be troy.

Avatar
09-08-05, 03:56 PM
Heh, you know legends, always overblowing everything.
Besides Illiad is not a historical work as such, it's prose with some historical facts.

In November 2001, geologists John C. Kraft from the University of Delaware and John V. Luce from Trinity College, Dublin presented the results (see [1], [2], & [3]) of investigations into the geology of the region that had started in 1977. The geologists compared the present geology with the landscapes and coastal features described in the Iliad and other classical sources, notably Strabo's Geographia. Their conclusion was that there is regularly a consistency between the location of Troy as identified by Schliemann (and other locations such as the Greek camp), the geological evidence, and descriptions of the topology and accounts of the battle in the Iliad.

There were actually 7 incarnations of Troy over a long time-scale; the city, which is referred to in the Illiad was the 3rd incarnation.

Jesus died from a sunburn not sins,
he was too poor to buy a sunblock cream.

When in hell the Devil said:
sucks to be dead!
Jesus said: well yes,
daddy’s a cheap asshole-bitch high up in heaven,
and forgot to give me a sunblock cream!

The Devil shook his head
and gave Jesus a hot prostitute,
she had an attitude - with a whip!
Sadomasochist!

Three days flew like falling stars,
Jesus was in heaven, was in hell,
but then his father-bitch stretched his arm
and put him back on a barren land with no juice
and no demoness!

12 apostles - Jesus cries,
12 old men instead of a demoness,
why me?!!!!!
you father-bitch!

Had business in Fulham Parsons Green. Lived in Putney and Roehampton/Sheen. Grew up in Highbury Islington.

I love Spain, reckon I could live there no hassle; Barcelona is totally Bohemian oozing with contemporary and Baroque culture. Seville is hot, arid, Andalusian music, Flamenco, totally devine, but not as buzzy as Barcelona or Madrid, which is a mind blowing city, great for shopping and hanging out.

Cyprus is shit in comparison to Spain, but it's just a small island. Still, you have a sense of safety, the climate is gorgeous, the laws are lax (except for drugs) the whores are Russian or East European (not that I ever use them, but they're fun to watch on the beach), the general vibe is almost British, The Cypriots are almost European, the government's bureaucracy and inefficiency are astounding and food is cheapish as is property and if you are retired and Greek, it's perfect!
