    Christmas is coming...

It's hot as hades downunder and cold as ice up there and the festive season beckons with the usual what happy memories can we give the kids and ourselves, over the break? Working 24/7/365 and getting cranky. Its time to recharge the batteries and drive, fly or cruise.

Any ideas for where to go for a great reasonably priced holiday either from your own experience or from what you've heard?
I'm open to suggestions and insults

East Korea is a nice shade of grey this time of year.

    Was nice.

    ...never mind. :bawl:

I'm guessing CarpetDiem want's a holiday that's both within their budget and not a million miles away (not that technically any where is)

I'm sure there are hundreds of places in Australia you could roam, or if you want to get all festive you'll need somewhere with snow, perhaps a mountain, you could travel over to New Zealand (Not sure if Australia has such mountains) or one of the many Archaeologies (Islands). If you take the boating option be careful, make sure people know where you are and that you have a decent crew, all too often there are sad tales of untrained crews facing changing weather patterns and causing a number of problems.

Hiking/camping trips could work too, pitch a tent where ever you want.

How about a trip to Tasmania? (Disconnected from the mentioning of Hiking/Camping)

Obviously you can always come up here to Europe, however we've got our winter and it makes your winters look like a blessing.
