I was in line the day I turned 16. I couldn't wait to drive.

Just got mine (17). I had the forms since I turned 17 and for some reason only just sent them away...almost 9 months later. I'm not that fussed about driving, I'm coping well without it.

I got my learner's permit, they were called restricted licenes back then, when I was 14. Then two years later you could get your regular license. I'm sure I didn't go down the day I turned 14 or 16.

Yep! Here we can't drive alone until 18.
As soon as you are 16 you can pass your theoretical exam. Then you've got to drive during at least 20 hours with a teacher. Then you can drive your car when a 20+ with a 2 years+ driving licence is with you. As soon as you're 18, you've got your final driving licence.
I didn't... that's to boring. I did like most of the French : I waited until 17 1/2, then I passed my theoretical exam and I started my driving lessons and I passed my driving licence at 18.
In every cases, you have to put a "A" on your car during 2 years and you're limited (10 km/h less than after your 2 years).

    Weird.

In Ontario you can get a G1 when you are 16 and passed the theoretical exam and eye exam. With a G1 you must have a fully licensed driver with you in the car and you can't drive on any freeways.

After eight months you can do your first road test to get a G2, and then after one year you can get a G. The difference between a G2 and G is that a G2 will expire after five years.

I was fully licensed to drive when I was 16 and 9 months old.

22.... the only good thing about living in the city was public transit. I saved thousands on insurance.

'+'. I still don't have it. living in new york is the greatest.

here, you can get a permit at 16 and a license at 18. my brother took me to get a permit a few months after my birthday. it's still just a permit although i had an updated picture taken when i turned 21 and they took the under 21 label off of it. it's only purpose is as an id for bars.

I got mine when I was 17. I couldn't get my permit until I was 16. And then I was supposed to wait at least a week until the next available day to take my test. But I didn't feel ready. So I ended up waiting until November, and then it started snowing. And I was deathly afraid to drive in the snow. So I bummed rides from my friends. I didn't have to pay insurance or gas, it was pretty freakin genius of me. Then spring came around and I was leeching off friends. My birthday, another winter, and then my mom got mad. So she made me go. Darn, wish I could have kept a good thing going.
