At the daycare center today a little girl asked me if I believed in God and I gave the schools mandated "I have no stance on religion speech", but when that wasn't good enough for her I admitted that I didn't and then she left later on her mother found out about my indescretion and wanted me fired for spreading slanderous filth. My administrator calmed her down and she left, but once again I've gotten in trouble for voicing my opinion to the young ones. Are parents just being to overprotective or am I missing something about what truths children are allowed to know and which one's they aren't this is very confusing.
Cutsie i think you should be honest with kids because they can tell if you dont belive what your saying but i dont know how the situation is in the US. If it was me i would have said "personally i dont but a lot of people do" that would have been honest without passing judgement either way. I dont want you to lose your job though because i gave you advice relivant to my culture which wasnt to yours
I'm an atheist but I feel like you should have said "sure I do". What's the big deal? Kids probably should believe in god untill they're smart enough to understand he's not real for themselves. Like santa claus. I think part of being a kid is assuming there's a god. I feel it was pretty petty of you to decide "expressing your deepest beliefs" to a 4 year old was more important than maintaining the integrity of said 4 year old's fragile universe. I grew up not only with everyone telling me they believed in god, but also pretty much insisting I also believe in god. Who gives a shit?
Dr what if the parents had been athiasts? then no only would she have lied, she would STILL be in trouble

Slanderous filth? Dumb parents, but I still think you should have said "Yes, I do." To be safe, just change the topic when the subject comes to religion. One of my good friends used to have a day-care teacher that was a Jehova's Witness. In their religion, they believe that life is a burden on the spirit. One day she said to some kids "You are better off dead." She was fired the next day.
Well, if my daughter overheard someone talking about oral sex, I don't think I really want a day care provider answering her questions. The parents waaaaaay over-reacted though.
Exactly what I was talking about in the other thread. People dump their kids at a young age into these daycares, or strangers homes to learn god knows what, or listen to ppl whos views may not be the same as yours.
Which is going to happen anyway.. but if one of the parents is home they can at least tell their side of the story.
...Oh you mean you dont want kids?....In that case we need to talk Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
