I'm young and don't have a clue what career path to follow I'm only going into collage now and could study anything. So any advice? Any carrer path I could take that pays well but won't drive me into a mental hospital by the time I'm 30?
Go into a technology field. Computer engineering, software development, or even IT are good fields. Unless you don't like computers. In that case you would be more happy in a field you liked, even if it meant less pay.
hi neversayNever Nice to see you are back. If i were you iw ould go for something you enjoy. Money is not everything, you can have quite a high paid job, but with that will have to work quite a bit so may not have a lot of time to sepnd for yourself and enjoy the money you have earned. Try to strike a balance between a job you would like which brings in a hald decent salary, rather than a job which brings in loads of cash but you dont really like. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ i hope this helps Zak
Stupid advice for a young person today, unless they are in India or China. The only way these fields are good for youth now is if they are total "geeks"(as described in media - pop culture) and absolutely would LOVE to get in these fields. Even then I suspect disillusionment for most. Do whatever you want. Yes ANYTHING. In a positive future anything(yeah even computer fields will come around again) will be valuable. If you just want a job, take up a trade - the only things not shipped out east.
and you think that your advice is any better? :bugeye: so dealing drugs is ok? going into prostitution is ok? dreaming of becoming a janitor with no life purpose is ok?
Try to pick something with a wide range of skills, or a course that encompasses various things. I'm not sure what I'm trying to say exactly, but don't pick Sociology, Astrology or something that's a waste of time unless it's your passion. Maths is always a good one to have. Geography is quite good. English. Everyone seems to be doing business these days, so you could give that a go. Media studies = useless. I'm 20 and I've only figured out roughly what I want to do. Bummed around, done college, tried uni and dropped out, and now the real fun and games start.
phonetic I beg you....I am in the same situation as you are, please dont give up, go back to community college take the necessary classes, dont give up. Collage? Collage is hard, you have to cut up all these pieces of paper, and it doesn't pay much... Oh, you mean college, do you? Advising you on a major depends on so many things: what do you want to do after, what your college's strengths are, etc. I would say pick something that a- interests you and b- is hard enough that it will show potential employers that you are smart. I would recommend Econ, not just because it was my major, but because it's got plenty of advantages: it requires math skills, and quantitative ability is something very useful in life, yet it's not just a hard science, it also gives you a look at society and how it behaves. It's the most illuminating social science: it shows you how to read people's behaviour, how to inform political choices, etc. Plus recruiters seem to like it (but it's increasingly popular so if you pick it be good at it). But whatever you decide to end up doing, my advice to you would be, most of all: start a business. That's the best experience in the world, it's just such a thrill. It allows you to take charge of your destiny, to feel good about work and about yourself, to experience leadership and to actually have a handle on things -- to effect real chance in the world. Whatever major you choose, whatever job you end up in, start your own business at least once. No one who has ever done it, whatever the outcome, has ever regretted it.
stop telling him to go to college. we all know after hearing my great idea on directing pornography he is well on his way of doing so.
you just want him out of this life. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! College is the only way to go if you want to succeed...everything else is a gamble were one's chances to win are almost none.
In order to wittle down your options, you must ask yourself a few questions... on second thoughts, I'll ask them. A) Are you good with your hands? B) Are you good with your brain? C) Do you prefer working outdoors or indoors? D) Do you prefer working with lots of people or are you solitary? E) Are you ruled by your head or your heart? F) Are you drawn to the arts? G) Are you after a serious long term career? H) Are you empathic, do you want to help people? I) Do you like working with systems? J) Do you prefer to take decisions, or to follow directions (orders)? K) Are you a team player? L) Do you dream of running your own business? Answer these questions and then I'll know what else to ask you.

Yeah very good it takes me only 2 minutes with nice scenery and such. of course I like it nice and slow. Yeah I am sure I am not a retard. Does that include taking out people when asked? like...killer job. that depends on the price per head... No third choice? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Yeah the victims' blood makes nice scenery...I guess. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! As long as the demand is there. I am a liberator. Liberating people forever. Well that depends how many rounds there are...rate of fire...presence of silencer and such. Anything for money. I sure am, I liberate my team members when business is done No need to dream when the business runs for me.
I'm planning to do an open uni course in a year or two, draqon. Mainstream uni isn't for me. I have a plan. It's what I want to do. It will make me happy, or wealthy anyway. The only downside I can see to not having a degree in the next few years is that I wanted to teach English in S Korea, and they require you to have a minimum of a BA. Fuck being a poor student for years.
I need money, yeah. Not to spend on uni though. I want to buy a place, go crazy in ikea, be able to afford random trips and nice electronics. Uni isn't for me Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
