It's the same size as a 3 1/2" floppy, but thicker.

Probably a zip drive.

Or an LS-120... or were they the same size as the 1.44 floppies?

I agree with invert. Sounds like it's probably a zip-drive disk to me.

You don't have to do that anymore on windows.

Actually I was thinking of a drive the size of a 1.44, not a 3 1/2.
I don't think a zip drive is that big.

1.44 is the size in megabytes, 3.5 or 3 1/2 is the size in inches.
both of those can apply to the floppy drive (usually A but sometimes B).
in essence then the floppy drive will hold a 3.5 inch 1.44 megabyte disc.

Derp.
Yeah. That's right.
I don't deal much in floppies these days.
The big floppies were 5 1/4.

Yup.
Zip disk.

The big floppies were 5 1/4.

Going back even further, there were 8 inch floppies.

Exactly the same physical dimensions as a 3.5 floppy. The ls120 drive itself was duplex, it would read/write/format either 120mb ls disks or 1.44 mb floppies.
