Although I can easily accept the fact that everybody has a different appreciation for music, I just can't help wonder why, or how.

So, what's good music to you?

If I had to chose-- I'd say it depends on the mood... but mostly Rock.

I love rock... H.I.M., Nickleback, Godsmack, Staind, Incubus, Metallica, Guns N' Roses.

Anything with an interesting melody. I am a fan of instrumental music, particularly for classical, jazz, and blues. I also like classic rock... The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin... folk and indie music are a hit or miss with me, and almost all hip hop / rap is worthless to me. Recently I took a "World Music" college course, and so I discovered an interest in other classical genres around the world. I try to keep an open mind.

i'd have to say metal.. but it depends on my mood too.. sometimes i love emo/screamo kinda music, while other times i like hardcore or punk.. so i like stuff pretty much like Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Job For A Cowboy, Aiden, HIM, Atreyu and Dragonforce (awesome guitars), AFI, Korn, Coheed And Cambria.. and that kinda stuff.

I like a lot of south american music, Flamenco, Vivaldi, Classic Rock, Tangerine Dream, Brian Ferry, Satriani, Jimmy Page, The BeeGees, Show Tunes, Joni Mitchell, etc. etc.

I also think the Monkees were better than the Beatles...but only when Mickey Dolenz was singing.

well i listen to rap/hip hop mostly, but thats just what i listen to and relate to on day to day basis. but i also listen to classical music when im reading, and chinese mandolin and flute music when i do taiji (tai chi). when i workout i like to listen to music that makes me get pumped up and want to go for longer.

like when i hit the punchbags i LOVE hearing the rocky tune "eye of the tiger" or "no easy way out" it sends shivers up my spine just typing it out now.

when i am painting a picture or sketching/drawing i like to listen to very slow music.

good music to me comes in many shapes and forms. but what i listen to for the sake of music without a theme. is hip hop music.

papoose, D block, tupac, biggie, maino, uncle murda, thugacation,

and english rap artists most of who i know personaly and are my friends, black twang, genesis elijah, ishod, Klashnekoff. roll deep.

    peace.

I'm a rock'n'roller, been listening to it since it was first invented. I think the greatest era was the progressive rock and art rock of the early 1970s. Roxy Music, Mott the Hoople, Genesis, David Bowie, Renaissance, Gentle Giant, every band from Led Zeppelin to Styx made at least one good prog-rock album at that point in their career. But I'm a musician (bassist) and I get tired of listening to and playing old music all the time. Artists whose songs I like and have learned include Stone Temple Pilots, Kelly Clarkson, Robbie Williams, Fall Out Boy, Sheryl Crow, the Killers, Green Day, Maroon Five, Garbage, U2, Alice in Chains, Roxette, Laura Pausini, Avril Lavigne and Ricky Martin.

Concerts I've been to since I've been in the Washington area: Filter, the Cult, Velvet Revolver, Starsailor, the Church, Stephen Stills, the Killers, Nickelback/Staind, Maroon Five, Los Lobos, Jonatha Brooke, Jean-Luc Ponty, Shakira, Joan Osborne, Ozomatli, and the Doors with Ian Astbury.

I also go to symphonies and chamber music.

My favorite "classical" pieces are "The Lark Ascending" by Vaughan Williams and "Metamorphosen" by Strauss and I've attended performances of both of them.

Depending on the mood, goes anywhere from classical to jazz to jingles to rock to metal.

For work I like light alternative music.
