Hello, Every time, when I hear a media comments which are hard to comply with my sense of logic, I try to recognise the real reasons of the news. The same refers to the news about USA decision of ABN agreement cancellation. Why? – Because preparing such advanced Star Wars system as a defence against terrorist is a funny explanation for me. Even such terrorists can be a countries like N. Korea or Iraq I don’t believe that it is a reason. First: the countries like Iraq or N. Korea are small one and within next 6-8 years a lot of changes can happen to them (they may become a friends of USA?). Second, terrorist will never be able to build a transcontinental rocket. Even they able to do that and even they able to do that far away from US spy eyes (on the moon?), they will have to perform some real tests with the rocket – every radar will see such rocket. Then some Tomahawks will be enough to finish terrorist’s game with space rocket. So only Russia and China remain as potential aggressors in USA defence doctrine. RUSSIA Still have a strong nuclear weapon potential, but I think, during next 20 years will be too weak in political/economical sense to strong conflict of interests between Russia and USA be possible, unless Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan with richest oil fields in the world (discovered in 90’th), will be the next Gulf after Arab Gulf finish it’s sources. Kazakhstan is a Russia’s protectorate now, but just after oil fields had been discovered (since 1996), US companies like Chevron started to “work on” that country. Additionally, Afghanistan is an open way for pipeline from Kazakhstan to Arab Sea now. To finish all jobs (political and construction), about 6-8 years is needed – just the same time to finish Star Wars project. CHINA Growing economical and military potential. Do you remember US plane put into pieces last year? There will be no other barrier of grow for both USA and China than USA or China in 6-8 years. Irrespectively of which case is more probably, Star Wars is not a defence against terrorists, but the first step of the new Cold War. That is my idea of today’s news explanation. Being an engineer, I am all for SDI because we can design it today better than in the past with newer powerful microprocessors and control systems. There is no such thing as 100% defense. Every little bit helps....
Hello, It’s strange for me, but nobody have protested against my Cold War idea. Why you are so proud of your military power, if in case of global conflict (since the anti missile shield program is not finished) the whole world could be threaten – even your own country. Your potential enemies are not stupid – after you have proclaimed your will to build that shield, chances of Russia or China to win the competition to reach global supremacy, will be disappearing with every hour. There is threat, that they will try to use any possible ways to “win the battle” before you achieve the shield. That is what I mean by Cold War. Why I’m so dramatic? – let see attached chart – it shows the values of USA average economic grow during last five decades of XX century. If tendency (shown on chart) will remain the same, the average grow equals zero in next few decades . That’s why the ways of doing business were changed so dramatically within last 10 years. That’s why we are facing so deep economical crisis now, but the future will be even more unpleasant. Everybody knows that politics and economy are connected each other, so Cold War performed in such condition will be much more dangerous than it was over 30 years ago. So, taking into consideration the above I’m very pessimistic with the future, especially, when I read an articles, republished from US magazines. To be honest – the style, one-side vision presented there are very similar to the style of articles published in Poland in 80’th – pure propaganda. Probably that is a reason of 70% US public support for war with Iraq – outside USA, such proportions are quite opposite. Believe me - we are walking on very thin ice. Regards Chris63
